One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 6 popped the story like a lead balloon. Halfway through the current season, the heroes have yet to do anything other than sit around in a conference room, talking about strategy while the monsters wait underground. What should have catalyzed the Monster Association raid, we instead got 20 more minutes of setup.

The S-Class heroes talked about staking out a location and infiltrating the enemy base, assembled a raid team, talked about whatever suspicions they had, and had 20 more minutes of dialogue. Episode 6 illustrated that the narrative conflict this season is not against the monsters any longer, but against getting bored.

A Meeting That Never Ends

Most of One Punch Man season 3 episode 6 was based around the meeting of the S-Class heroes to develop a strategy. The Child Emperor revealed that there are almost 500 monsters still at the headquarters of the Monster Association. They discussed the numerous demon and dragon-level threats lying in wait for the heroes.

Tension began to rise when Amai Mask wanted to join the strike team. His combative demeanor caused tensions with the other heroes, especially when he asked Zombieman about his use of immortality. Even though Amai Mask is an A-Class hero, he thinks that he has S-Class level strength and wants to participate in the main operation.

King's Arrival Provides Brief Entertainment

One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 6 gave us a quick breather when King walked into the meeting. The S-Class heroes were seemingly filled with respect and admiration for the clearly powerful hero, and even Tatsumaki, who typically frowns on everyone but S-Class heroes, acknowledged him, proof of his legendary status.

The episode also introduced the support team's advantage of some of the top A-Class and B-Class heroes. Characters like Captain Mizuki make an appearance, but their role is still pretty superficial, as the S-Class heroes will descend below while the support team remains above ground.

Big news in One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 6, Genos showed off his new enhancements. Dr. Kuseno equipped the cyborg with new powers, but this causes serious limitations. All the cyborg could do now was use full power for ten seconds, with the risk of exploding the core powering him.

Now that is a reckless upgrade, but it builds toward conflict, even if it won't be fully possible this season. Fubuki ran into the enhanced Genos on her way to Saitama's apartment, and that's one of the few character interactions that feels alive with actual movement.

The Splinter Team Forms

At the end of One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 6, a separate group branched off from the main operation. Bang, Bomb, King, and Fubuki decided to look for the Monster Association's headquarters separately, based on Bang's need to find Garou, his former student. Genos stayed at Saitama's apartment to wait until his master returned to debrief. This extra narrative leads us into the second storyline for future episodes.

Also, One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 6 had the eponymous hero on screen for only a few seconds. The end of the episode showed Saitama traveling through underground tunnels after locating the manhole that gave him access to the Monster Association's base in the last episode. He was prompted to head down as he felt the tremors from the Garou vs. overgrown Rover and Orochi fight.
