One Punch Man Season 3 was one of the most anticipated anime of this season, and fans were excited to watch this show. It has been years since there was an update on this series, and since it started premiering, it has constantly disappointed fans. Now that Episode 6 aired, this series has gotten its lowest rating of 2.6 out of 10 on IMDb. It is shocking to see an anime that started with so much potential is now known for having one of the worst-received episodes in anime history.

Fans are wondering what exactly went wrong with One Punch Man Season 3? Since J.C. Staff has taken over the show, the production house has not been able to match the quality of animation that Madhouse delivered in Season 1. According to fans, they believe that the current animation studio has cut corners while animating this series, and as a result is absolutely terrible.

Those who have read the manga know that the story is brilliantly written and the artwork is phenomenal. Because the studio is unable to translate the quality, the fandom is openly calling them out. Fans echoed the same sentiment for One Punch Man Season 3.

They feel all the episodes have stiff animation, frozen character models, almost no movement, and shot compositions so static that they feel unfinished, and episode 6 was just one of the worst instalments yet.

Genos takes the biggest hit: A ‘Generational aura loss’

One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 6 should have been a strong character moment for Genos, as he is one of the most beloved heroes in the series. Instead, his scenes have been called an “aura loss of generational proportions.” Many fans are comparing this character design to be made by an unprofessional artist, as it lacks depth.

When a character known for explosive, mechanical action is reduced to stiff talking shots and off-model visuals, it becomes clear why fans are angry. The anime has, ironically, made Murata’s manga panels feel more dynamic than the animation itself. Moreover, the most puzzling part of Episode 6 is how the production house removed an important conversation between Genos and Fubuki.

In the manga, they have a discussion setting up their rivalry, their motives, and the Monster Association raid strategies. But the anime did not show any of this, but rather replaced this with a static shot of a building while their conversation happened offscreen.

While there are shows like My Hero Academia with its explosive final season and underrated series like Takopi's Original Sin making waves in the anime community for delivering masterpieces in the world of anime. And because there are series which is carried due to wonderful animation, fans of One Punch Man are feeling robbed of an opportunity to witness a peak story.

Why are fans so furious with One Punch Man Season 3?

A big part of the outrage comes from betrayal. One Punch Man was once seen as a masterpiece of modern anime production thanks to Season 1. Season 2 disappointed, but fans still hoped Season 3 would redeem the adaptation.

Instead, the community feels let down:

  • Longtime fans say they have stopped watching completely.
  • Many are switching to manga.
  • Others say they are watching only “to see how bad it can get.”

What makes it worse is that One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 6 isn’t even a big action episode, and yet the animation is still being criticized for being barely functional. To add on to this, in the world of anime, recently, there have been two shonen series that ended up creating waves, and fans started expecting more from this genre.

With Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man proving how animation has the power to make its audience forget about reality for a second, and then they watch this series, only to feel utterly disappointed.

Final thoughts

Episode 6 isn’t just a badly received episode; it’s a turning point. For many, it marks the moment One Punch Man Season 3 went from “disappointing” to “unwatchable.” Unless something changes dramatically, fans fear the Monster Association arc, one of the most anticipated arcs in manga history which is known to be heavy on action which made the story of One Punch Man iconic, may not get the adaptation it deserves. A few fans are hoping the next episodes improve, but many have already accepted the truth that One Punch Man Season 3 might be beyond saving.
