Sakamoto Days is one of the hottest new anime, captivating fans around the globe through its blend of action and comedy. The series features the retired assassin, Taro Sakamoto, as he lives a peaceful life along with his wife and daughter. However, ghosts from his past soon draw him back into the world of assassination as he fights to protect what he holds dear.

While Sakamoto Days starts on a lighter note, it soon gets filled with drama, political intrigue, and large-scale conspiracies. At the heart of this thematic shift lies X’s Organization, a group orchestrating widespread chaos. The leader of this group, Kei Uzuki, also known as “X” and “Slur," is the main villain of Sakamoto Days.

Uzuki made his first official appearance in the Lab Arc, where he terrified Shin with his bloodlust. He was a man who didn’t hesitate to commit mass murder for his goals and aimed to overthrow the Japanese Association of Assassins initially. While anime-only watchers may believe that Uzuki is a bloodthirsty killer based on early impressions, he is a complex antagonist who represents the faults of the assassin system.

In reality, Kei Uzuki is a compassionate man who is close to all those in X’s Organization. Unfortunately, his goal of toppling the ruling structure is a result of his tragic life. In the past, Uzuki was a talented resident of the Al-Kamar Orphanage, which raised members for the JAA.

He joined Sakamoto, Naguma, and Rion Akao on missions, and formed a particularly close bond with Rion. The two spent a lot of time together, and Rion’s affection and infectious kindness began to influence Uzuki as well. However, Uzuki could never live a life free of restrictions, as he was being manipulated by his brother, Sei Asaki, into completing missions.

If he disobeyed Asaki’s orders, his friends at the Al-Kamar Orphanage would all be threatened. During one of the tasks assigned to him, Uzuki ended up inadvertently killing Rion. Tracked down by Sakamoto, Uzuki resigned himself to his fate and was willing to die. However, he ended up surviving due to his Situs Inversus, where all his internal organs were inverted.

Given another chance, Uzuki decided to turn to darkness. He started believing the entire world was guilty of Rion’s death and the fate suffered by him and his friends. As a result, Uzuki recruited allies from Al-Kamar and set up an organization meant to topple the JAA. In the recent chapters of the Sakamoto Days manga, he achieved this by personally killing Asaki, who had risen to become the JAA Chairman.

In a twist, however, Uzuki revealed that he did not merely want to stop assassins, but wished to drag everyone down with him. As a result, soon after obtaining power over the JAA and controlling the ministers, Uzuki set a new rule where every citizen was armed with guns and had a free license to kill. His scheme of causing chaos succeeded, with large chunks of the population massacring each other.

How powerful is Kei Uzuki in Sakamoto Days?

Kei Uzuki is a frighteningly strong character in Sakamoto Days, and it would be no overstatement to call him the most powerful. Uzuki has been trained as an assassin since a young age and was groomed to be an Order member.

Consequently, he is highly talented in combat. He has enhanced senses, and his speed and endurance are impressive enough to keep up with Sakamoto. As mentioned earlier, Uzuki has Situs Inversus, where his organs are mirrored. Hence, it is hard to land a fatal blow on him.

Uzuki’s main power, however, is connected to another medical condition of his. The Sakamoto Days villain suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder, where he can manifest the personalities of others when put under high pressure. That isn’t all, as Uzuki is able to perfectly replicate every characteristic of his sample and even use their powers.

Soon after Rion’s death, Uzuki took over her personality. Additionally, he also possesses Takamura’s skills. Since Takamura was considered the strongest JAA member and could cut down entire buildings with his blade, Uzuki is now able to copy it and face formidable opponents with ease.
