The Science SARU-produced anime SANDA Episode 12 aired on December 20, 2025, bringing the first season to a dramatic conclusion. Titled "Pale Blue Pall", the last episode of the first season ended with a bang. With an identity crisis climax unlike anything seen before in an animated Christmas series, it went from being a quirky little Christmas romp to one of the most heartbreaking anime series of the year.In SANDA Episode 12, Sanda confronted Oshibu, revealing who he really is, during a public event in front of all the students. There was also the heart-wrenching moment where Ono Ichie died of old age, just seconds after Fuyumura finally told her how she felt about him at school for the last time.Santa Versus Oshibu Showdown in SANDA Episode 12Santa takes on Headmaster Oshibu (Image Source: Science SARU)The 12th episode was off the hook with a ton of action right at the school's main grounds, where thousands were there to be part of a public "Santa purge." Sanda was brought from out of nowhere and forced into an insane and brutal fight against the horde of students there by Tetsume's shadowy committee.Oshibu stood before the crowd in his mutation form, like a mountain of muscle and scars. Every time the crowd chanted his name, he became more powerful, and all his wounds healed. The cheers and respect from students gave Oshibu a sense of validation. There was a big mess with Sanda's version of Black Santa. It was all about rot, the feeling of decay, and imaginary horns. In the middle of all that, there was a lot of crowd support, but those cheers for Oshibu actually worked against Sanda.Oshibu's win against Santa (Image Source: Science SARU)The action in SANDA Episode 12 really picked up with its big reveal when the battle moved to the rooftop gym. The final clash showcased Sanda's restored strength versus Oshibu's power. The fight ended as Santa fell from the rooftop. Oshibu then headed back, where he met the Headmistress Toyo Tetsudome in the hallway.Ono's Tragic Farewell in SANDA Episode 12Ono and Fuyumura's final moment together (Image Source: Science SARU)Aside from the fight scene ending at the end of this episode, SANDA Episode 12 provided a sad end for Ono's story. Fuyumura was able to find a thriving Ono until her body started to quickly deteriorate. Before dying due to rapid aging from the early onset of creatures, all Ono could hear Fuyumura expressing love to her.The actual funeral for Ono was very different from the lavish ceremony that was previously arranged for her, and the difference in how society views children after puberty compared to adults was glaringly obvious. After reaching puberty, Ono was no longer considered a child, so there was no elaborate funeral as there would have been for the transition into adulthood from childhood.Season's ConclusionSANDA Episode 12 ended the fall 2025 dark horse masterpiece with a big question for the viewers: Would you like to be saved or would you like to be truly seen? It kept surprising viewers all the way to the end. This was very timely because it came out just before Christmas, so it works as a Christmas horror series as well! The episode exemplified why the series was one of the most strikingly visual productions of 2025. It was not clear whether this would be the final installment of the series, but at least SANDA Episode 12 allowed both to revisit the emotional high from earlier seasons and create a new foundation for the upcoming series.
