The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, also called Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku, is one of the most anticipated anime of the year, with many fans considering it among the best romance stories ever created. The anime will be based on the manga by Saka Mikami, which has been serialized on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket since October 2021. It has 152 chapters at the time of writing.

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity anime will adapt directly from its source material and is scheduled for release on July 6, 2025. The series blends wholesome romance with a realistic portrayal of the uncertainties of adolescence.

It follows Rintarou, a young boy who seems intimidating due to his appearance but is gentle and kind-hearted, working at his parents’ bakery. One day, he meets Kaoruko, an intelligent and bubbly girl who loves eating sweets. Though the two start off with a misunderstanding, they soon form a relationship built on mutual trust and support.

While coming from rival schools that hate each other, Rintarou and Kaoruko aim to navigate the restrictions placed upon them. Over the course of their meetings, their friend group gradually grows bigger, welcoming understanding and compassionate individuals from all walks of life.

At the same time, Rintarou and Kaoruko begin to take their connection to the next level, realizing their romantic feelings for each other. This leads them on a confusing yet heartwarming journey as they tackle the different complexities of life side-by-side.

As mentioned, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity anime will air from July 5, 2025, on multiple networks such as Tokyo MX, MBS, BS11, and AT-X. New episodes will come out weekly on Saturdays and will air at 12:30 am JST. The streaming rights have been acquired by Netflix, allowing global audiences to watch the show on their platform.

Before its official broadcast, the anime will have a preview screening on June 29 at TOHO Cinemas, Roppongi Hills. The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity is being adapted by Studio CloverWorks, which has animated other romance anime such as Horimiya, My Dress-Up Darling, and the Bunny Girl Senpai franchise.

The series director is Miyuki Kuroki, known for Your Lie in April and Hunter x Hunter. Kouhei Tokuoka is the Chief Animation Director and Character Designer, while Moeki Harada is in charge of the music. Haruki Tsuzuki and Asuka Kouki are the technical and art directors, respectively.

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity’s opening theme, “Manazashi wa Hikari,” is performed by Tatsuya Kitani, and the ending theme, “Hare no Hi ni,” is performed by Reira Ushio.
