In JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Araki has introduced a new JoJo, and fans feel that his stand is probably the strongest. Johnny Joestar is the first JoJo introduced in this new world, which is introduced after Pucci had wiped out the original timeline.

Much like Koichi’s Echoes in Diamond is Unbreakable, Tusk progresses through multiple Acts, each unlocking devastating new powers and thematic depth tied to Johnny’s growth as a character and his mastery over the Spin technique.

Tusk as a Stand is unique from most as it seems to evolve based on Johnny’s personal growth and mastery of the Spin. It reflects his journey from helplessness to empowerment, each Act serving as a checkpoint in his philosophical and physical transformation.

In JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Tusk is also special because of how intricately it ties into Steel Ball Run’s power system. The Spin and its natural laws are a beautiful contrast to the chaotic supernatural abilities of the Stands. They represent harmony with nature, while Valentine’s D4C (Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap) symbolizes manipulation and escape from it.

Act 1: The spark of resolve

Tusk’s Act 1 in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is introduced when Johnny obtains the left arm of the Saint’s Corpse. Its appearance was of a cute pink colored creature resembling an axolotl.

This version of Tusk seemed to be a perfect mascot figure for Steel Ball Run. While not a combat powerhouse, Act 1 symbolizes the first spark of Johnny’s resolve, the moment he steps into a destiny greater than himself.

Act 2: The geometry of progress

As Johnny deepens his understanding of the Spin, particularly the concept of the Golden Rectangle, his Stand evolves into Tusk Act 2. It’s bulkier and more mechanical in design, featuring armor plating, mechanical limbs, and a sharper, more angular design that suggests enhanced capability.

The upgrade doesn’t just look cooler, it brings a significant enhancement: the "Golden Nail Bullet" technique. These bullets, imbued with advanced rotational energy, create void-like bullet holes that defy physics.

Act 3: Enter the wormhole

Act 3 arrives during the Civil War arc, when Johnny receives divine guidance, implied to be from Jesus Christ, who instructs him to shoot himself. And he does. By shooting himself with a Golden Rectangle nail, Johnny unlocks Tusk Act 3, a larger, humanoid Stand with cybernetic features and a prominent blue mohawk blade running through its face. With it comes one of the most erratic techniques in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure lore: Dimensional Wormholes.

This turns Johnny into a near-untouchable sniper. He can hide his body inside a black hole, making him immune to physical damage, and fire nail bullets through these portals from unpredictable angles.

Act 4: The infinite spin

When all hope seems lost against Funny Valentine and his dimension-hopping Stand D4C: Love Train, Johnny performs the ultimate act of willpower and mastery. He rides his horse at full natural rhythm, achieving the Golden Spin, the truest and purest form of rotational energy, and unlocks Tusk Act 4.

This is how it works: when Act 4 hits someone, every atom of their body begins spinning infinitely. The target is pulled back to the point of impact again and again, regardless of time, space, or dimension. Even if Funny Valentine switches to an alternate version of himself, the Infinite Spin follows, affecting all versions of him across the multiverse.

It’s a fate worse than death, eternal suffering without escape. Not even D4C’s dimensional abilities in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure can counter it. The only way to undo the Infinite Spin is to be hit with another Golden Spin in the exact opposite rotation, something only Johnny could perform, and he never does.

How Tusk is unique in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure

Tusk is a masterpiece in storytelling, power-scaling, and symbolism. Each Act has a purpose, not just in battle, but in character development. While Act 4 is obviously the most powerful in raw ability, Act 3 might be the most conceptually terrifying. In JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, being able to vanish into a void while attacking from impossible angles is the kind of thing that would terrify even the most hardened Stand user.

Tusk, in all its forms, stands as a symbol of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run’s philosophical depth, emotional weight, and unique power system. And in the words of Johnny himself: "I have to keep moving forward. Because if I stop, I’ll go back to being the person I was before. And I never want to be that person again."
