The Beginning After the End is the most controversial anime to be released in recent history, with each new episode sparking significant outrage. Now that the first season of the series has finally ended with its 12th episode, many fans may be hoping to read the manhwa but might be unsure of where to begin.

Fans can pick up The Beginning After the End manhwa from chapter 57 after completing the anime's first season. Since the comic also follows a format of episodes and seasons, this installment will kick off the manhwa's third season. For those who wish to read the novel, this will translate to chapter 31.

The Beginning After the End is a novel created by Turtleme that has been published since 2017. It later skyrocketed in popularity with its manhwa, which has been running since 2018 on Tapas. The story follows Arthur Leywin, a reincarnated king who is reborn as a child in a world filled with magic and monsters.

While his previous life as King Grey was far from joyous, Arthur resolves to make the most of his second opportunity, spending time with his loved ones and gaining enough strength to protect them from the various nefarious forces in the world. The Beginning After the End is beloved for its world-building, character development, and consistently escalating stakes.

Therefore, fans were understandably excited when the series was confirmed to receive its anime adaptation. Regrettably, as many know by now, the anime has been severely disappointing, with Studio A-Cat's subpar visuals letting down the entire fandom. The first season, with 12 episodes, completed airing in the Spring 2025 season, while the sequel is scheduled for release in Spring 2026.

As mentioned, this will pick up from chapter 57 of the manhwa and chapter 31 of the novel, taking place after a two-year timeskip. It will continue following Arthur's journey as the masked A-rank adventurer, Note, alongside Jasmine. While the two have risen to great fame among their peers, they soon face their biggest challenge in a treacherous dungeon, where they encounter the S-Class Beast, Elderwood Guardian.

The monsters aren't the only danger, however, as Arthur ends up being betrayed by one of his own teammates. Following this, the series expands its scale, as a new continent is discovered and Arthur enters Xyrus Academy, where he confronts a whole new set of difficulties that test him both physically and mentally. For those who have enjoyed The Beginning After the End so far, the quality of the writing only keeps improving, and the best is yet to come.

Is it worth reading The Beginning After the End manhwa?

The Beginning After the End is widely considered to be among the best manhwas ever made, compared to the likes of Solo Leveling and Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. It brings the source material's fascinating setting to life, making the exhilarating battles and fantastical elements truly shine.

Therefore, it is undoubtedly worth reading, and we'd even recommend starting it from the first chapter for better immersion and to experience the parts the anime skipped. At the same time, some readers have criticized the comic, primarily because of its art style changes. The original illustrator, Fuyuki23, elevated the story through his distinctive style and color palette.

Unfortunately, he was cut out from the project during its second half, and the artwork lost much of what made it unique. While the story remains a faithful and thrilling retelling, the change in designs may be unappealing to a few readers.

Hence, the majority of fans would recommend reading the novel, which accurately conveys TurtleMe's original vision and is far ahead of both the manhwa and anime adaptations in terms of story progression.
