Among the many students who attend U.A. High School in My Hero Academia, Class 1-B often gets overshadowed by the flashier Class 1-A. But within that “rival” class are a handful of unique and highly skilled students who deserve the spotlight. One of them is Setsuna Tokage, better known by her hero name: Lizardy.

With her reptilian-themed Quirk and sharp strategic mind, she has proven herself to be one of Class 1-B’s most reliable leaders and fighters. Throughout the series, Setsuna has gone from a confident student hero-in-training to eventually becoming the No. 22 Pro Hero in the timeline following the Final War. When it comes to combat, she becomes sharp, cunning, and calculating, willing to exploit any weakness her opponent reveals.

The Joint Training Arc highlighted Setsuna's tactical brilliance; she devised multi-step strategies against Bakugo’s team, predicting their possible movements and building countermeasures.

As a leader, Setsuna is trustworthy and reliable. She was admitted to U.A. through recommendations, placing her among the most talented incoming students. One of her greatest strengths is her strategic mind. Moreover, she doesn’t just fight; she plans several moves. During the Joint Training Battle, she predicted Class 1-A’s team formations and strengths, using distractions and environmental manipulation to give her side an advantage.

In both the classroom and battlefield, Setsuna in My Hero Academia acts as a natural leader. She coordinates her teammates, delegates tasks, and inspires trust. Her leadership was on full display during the Joint Training Arc and later battles where cooperation was critical.

Setsuna participated in the Sports Festival, though she ranked relatively low in the Obstacle Race. This was partly due to Monoma’s plan for Class 1-B to hold back and observe Class 1-A’s quirks rather than showcase their own.

During the Vanguard Action Squad invasion in My Hero Academia, Setsuna was knocked unconscious by Mustard’s gas but was later rescued by Aizawa. This arc showed the dangers of real villain combat, foreshadowing her later maturity. Her most defining early battle.

As the leader of her team, she devised clever strategies against Bakugo’s squad, using her Quirk to disorient and divide. However, her lack of flexibility when plans failed led to her defeat. Despite this, she emerged as one of Class 1-B’s standout tacticians.

Setsuna joined the Singapore Task Force against Humarise. Her Quirk was used for surveillance and distribution of Momo’s devices, helping track Trigger Bombs. This mission broadened her international hero experience.

Setsuna participated in the Villa Backup Team, aiding against Gigantomachia. She helped in the sedative operation and even saved Eijiro Kirishima in the middle of the battle. However, she was devastated by Majestic’s death, showing the emotional burden of hero work.

During the civilians' evacuation, Setsuna in My Hero Academia coordinated with heroes underground before joining the main battlefield at Mt. Fuji. She fought alongside the Hero army against All For One’s forces, displaying her growth into a dependable pro.

After the chaos of the Final War, Setsuna rose through the pro ranks and became the No. 22 Pro Hero. This achievement speaks volumes about her skill, resilience, and leadership, proving she fulfilled the promise she showed as a student.

Final thoughts

In many ways, Setsuna represents what makes My Hero Academia special: Even side characters with limited spotlight have fully realized arcs, distinctive quirks, and the potential to inspire fans. Setsuna Tokage, Lizardy, may not be the series’ flashiest hero, but she is undoubtedly one of its most fascinating.
