Why the Gojo clan’s controversial decision in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo makes sense

In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, we see that the Gojo clan is still active, and they have not lost their status as one of the big families in the world of Jujutsu. Fans have been keeping a close eye on the clan, as they have been infamously known to impose a lot of rules and restrictions on everyone to ensure that no one ends up misusing techniques that would make the elders lose their upper hand.

Even now, the intense debate in the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo fandom continues to surround this same clan due to one decision made by the elders. It is the controversial move to give Rika's ring to Tsurugi instead of Yuka. Initially, in the first few chapters, it seemed like this move was made deliberately as an act of favoritism, but upon examining the events that unfolded in Modulo Chapter 17, it appears that this might have been one of the best decisions.

Fans flooded forums with accusations that the clan favored the Heavenly Restricted child while leaving the sick Ten Shadows user to die. But when you look at the political reality of the jujutsu world and the power balance between clans, the situation becomes far more complicated and surprisingly fair.

Tsurugi and Yuka being siblings caused the debate to intensify

Fans usually end with a small misconception that Tsurugi and Yuka are twins. This has been a recurring comment on the forum, but because they are siblings and now twins, distinctions matter. In Jujutsu Kaisen, twins are treated as a single existence by cursed energy, which is why Maki and Mai’s growth was stunted for so long.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, Tsurugi and Yuka do not share that limitation. Tsurugi’s Heavenly Restriction exists independently of Yuka, while Yuka’s Ten Shadows Technique, Mahoraga included, is one of the most dangerous inheritances in jujutsu history. The fact that fans still conflate the two situations only fuels misunderstandings about why the Gojo Clan acted the way it did.

Why would giving Yuka the ring have been a wrong move?

From a purely emotional standpoint, Yuka should have had the ring. It was her grandfather, Yuta Okkotsu’s, memento, and Rika could have drastically increased her chances of surviving her duel with Dabura. That argument is completely understandable, and it is the one most readers instinctively gravitate toward.

However, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has never been a story about emotional fairness. It’s about consequences, structures, and the cost of power. Personal feelings have always come second to what keeps the jujutsu world from collapsing in on itself.

Mahoraga and Rika together would break the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo world

By Chapter 15, the story confirms Yuka’s full inheritance of the Ten Shadows Technique. That revelation changes everything. Mahoraga alone is a walking apocalypse. usable only once, but capable of reshaping the battlefield entirely. Now imagine stacking Rika, the Queen of Curses, on top of Mahoraga.

Yuka is not just strong, but one push in the wrong direction, and she would have become a force to be reckoned with. These new generation kids live in a world where there is no one like Gojo, so if the clan gave all of the power to one person, it would be like gambling with the one way that she is not going to be corrupted.

Final thoughts

In the end Gojo clan has a reputation that has made readers look at them in a different light. But looking at the development of the story in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, it seems like this was a calculated move to not only safeguard the clan but also ensure that Tsurugi also gets protection.
