Will there be a Chainsaw Man part 3? Future possibilities explored

Chainsaw Man Part 3 speculation has grown as the manga's former Part 2 continues without direction. The narrative and charm of Tatsuki Fujimoto's storytelling grow in complexity with each chapter, layering in layers of mystery as key characters simply disappear from existence. There are many loose threads involved with Chainsaw Man that it's difficult to believe everything is tied up within just Part 2.

When we assess the evidence, it just feels like Chainsaw Man Part 3 gets more and more likely to happen. Within the narrative, there are numerous major characters missing in action, and core plot elements go unfulfilled. It still feels like we're missing the protagonist, Denji's growth.

Fujimoto loves to draw on American cinema and storytelling conventions in Hollywood. It makes sense for the story to be released in Parts 1 and 2 recently, when film trilogies typically release their stories like this. Wouldn't it be fun to say that Fujimoto takes these stories and makes a Chainsaw Man Part 3, the final act?

There have also been many successful manga released in Part 1 and Part 2, multi-part storylines. The 3 act structure allows for character development, emotional build-up, and resolution.

Unfinished character arcs

It kinda feels like Asa Mitaka's story is still in development. We need closure for her relationship with Yoru and how she works towards her own bodily autonomy. Leaving her arc in an unfinished state would certainly upset fans who have seen her develop as a character over several chapters.

As it runs similar errors in relationships as well. Denji is still developing toward true happiness and self-worth, but there is a journey still to take here. Since the start of the series, we have learned how much he needs to break the pattern of engaging and intoxicating relationships, something that will take more time to develop as a narrative.

Missing characters and loose ends

A couple of the bigger characters, however, are still missing, and it’s unclear what has happened to them. Kishibe disappeared on a “business trip” with no more explanation than that. Reze was last seen surviving non-lethal injuries and has not reappeared. Kobeni quit Public Safety, but there is still yet to be revealed about her devil contract.

Power’s promise to reappear is perhaps the biggest piece still left unresolved, though. When she said goodbye to Denji, she also mentioned that she would find him again. In the recent chapters, she’s mentioned still thinking about Denji, so it’s certainly conceived that this specific plotline will pay off.

The Control Devil mystery in Chainsaw Man Part 3

Another compelling reason why Chainsaw Man Part 3 is so likely is because of the Control Devil. Makima and Nayuta represented different degrees of relationship towards Denji, but we haven't seen the world's next representative of the Control Devil yet. This could open the door for yet another relationship to be explored with Denji.

Yoru stated that Control would likely be back as a new fiend, alongside Death, at a later time. This potential hasn't been satisfied yet with the introduction of Death. So it would feel like there was an important point of the overall climax, having such a significant character just leaving this unsettled.

Presumably, the arcs of all four Horsemen of the Apocalypse have been introduced: Control, Famine, War, and Death. Some people have argued that this completeness refers to this story being able to conclude without Chainsaw Man Part 3. But just because we introduced the horseman does not mean we will resolve Denji's interactions, because we can have much fuller arcs for each of the horsemen to be explored through Chainsaw Man Part 3.

Another theme that has repeatedly been teased is that of Hell itself. We saw glimpses of Hell in Part 2, but we have not been shown a full arc of Hell. The Primal Fears of Darkness and Falling were revealed, but did not take up a lot of screen time. Part 3 has the potential to open into the mythology.

Final Thought

Looks like there’s some solid evidence that Chainsaw Man Part 3 is on the way. Character arcs are unfinished, and major plot lines are unresolved, so it looks as if Fujimoto intends to keep adding to the story rather than providing a conclusion. The structure is further supported by Fujimoto's cinematic influences, which make a trilogy.

But it’s difficult to know for sure until it's officially confirmed, given Fujimoto's unpredictable nature. At the end of the day, anything is possible.
