Since Hunter x Hunter began in 1998, the series has become global and has been testing the patience of fans, as it is known for its mysterious hiatus and slow release of new content. Whether we’re talking about an anime that stopped at the introduction of a new arc, or a manga that has new content, but the release of new chapters is really slow. Fans have been wondering if their favorite series will continue.

So far, there’s no news about whether Hunter x Hunter will be renewed for a new anime season. Fans have been waiting for the adaptation to come back and bring the darker and more mature arcs to life. Meanwhile, for those reading the manga, new chapters will be irregular, but there will be new content.

This cycle of brief returns followed by long silences has become the norm for HxH over the past decade. And once again, the cause is no mystery: Yoshihiro Togashi’s health. The creator of this show has been open about his health conditions. While fans are really looking forward to experiencing the story, they have been supportive of the fact that the mangaka needs to prioritize rest over the completion of the series.

The creator has admitted he has severe chronic back pain and can’t sit for a long period of time. Yet he hasn’t given up on his work. He’s released a statement saying he’s planning the next 50 chapters of Hunter x Hunter.

This doesn’t mean it’ll be fast, but it means he still sees the story as unfinished and he’s doing what he can to continue it, even if it’s slow and mostly behind the scenes. There have been rumors that currently, there are a few chapters ready to go, but the publisher is holding them back until there’s more clarity on the future of the manga.

When Hunter x Hunter returned to Jump in late 2024, and later when it trended globally on social media, fans began to wonder whether the anime might follow. Hints of something new popped up in early 2025 when AnimeJapan, the major industry convention, listed Hunter x Hunter among the works represented by Nippon TV and VAP. While this is not a confirmation, it has given hope to fans that some form of anime content might be revealed in the future.

How have fans been reacting to Hunter x Hunter's irregular updates

After years of not having proper updates, by now, most audiences might have moved on to other series, but that’s not the case here. Fans of Hunter x Hunter are fiercely loyal to this series and have learnt to balance excitement with caution. As they are used to not receiving any updates for a long time, fans have managed to learn to be happy whenever there is progress.

Togashi’s updates on social media are appreciated by fans, but these updates have become a double-edged sword. His honesty is refreshing, but his health struggles hit fans hard. Every time he posts, fans are torn between joy that he’s working and worry about how much pain he’s in.

While everyone wants to see the Succession War concluded and the Dark Continent explored, many have accepted that the story might not reach every goal Togashi once envisioned. Instead, readers are grateful for whatever he can give, even if it’s one chapter every couple of years.

In conclusion, Hunter x Hunter will continue, but on its terms. While there is no news about getting a new season for anime, the manga continues its story. Although there is no confirmation on how much of the story will be out in considering the mangaka’s health. No one knows exactly how long the journey will last, but the fact that it’s still going, even in bits and pieces, is its own kind of victory.
