The moment the official trailer for One Punch Man Season 3 dropped, I dropped everything to watch it. After years of speculation, disappointment, and anticipation, it was finally here. The moment we fans had been dying for: a first look at the Monster Association arc.
The trailer lasted just 28 seconds, but it felt endless, in all the wrong ways. It was deeply disappointing. I was hyped, tense, and ready for J.C. Staff to show us they had learned from the mistakes of season 2. But what I got felt more like a tentative proof of life than a triumphant return.
This brings fans of this series, like me, to question if J.C. staff can actually do justice to season 3. I’ve been rewatching parts of Season 2 lately, just to reevaluate my feelings for the anime.
The story was still solid, and the Garou scenes were decently handled. But the animation quality dropped off a cliff compared to Season 1. It’s no secret that Madhouse set the bar high, and J.C. Staff stumbled trying to match it.

But now with season 3 of One Punch Man, they have the upper hand, which was not the case before, and it is time. Season 2 felt rushed, like they were trying to hit a deadline more than meet fan expectations.
As someone who’s been defending One Punch Man through thick and thin, watching the official trailer stung a little. The trailer they released felt like the studio was testing the waters, almost hesitating to commit. And that’s not the kind of first impression you want when adapting arguably the best arc in the entire manga
There is a chance that the release of a PV was just a teaser of what’s to come, maybe, just maybe, they’re saving the real juice for a proper trailer closer to the release. Because lately, several anime have faced backlash for cutting corners on animation quality, and fans of One Punch Man have been vocal about not being happy with the information they have about the new installment of the series.
Right now, if the kind of lousy animation that was put on the trailer is what is going to be offered for the main series, the production house still has some time before they are set to release the anime. And judging by the internet’s response to this trailer, mixed, at best, they have all the incentive they need to polish up before October.
Even now if I am completely honest, there are time where the fandom has also seen studios rise to the challenge. MAPPA was once questioned too, and look where they are now. If J.C. Staff takes the feedback, commits to quality, and treats this arc with the love and gravity it deserves, they can redeem themselves.
If J.C. Staff animated with care, consistency, and respect for the manga, there is no doubt that One Punch Man Season 3 would interest viewers when released.
Why does the Monster Association Arc being animated matter in One Punch Man?
The Monster Association Arc isn’t just another season. It’s the soul of One Punch Man. It’s the arc where everything escalates. Fans can expect Garou’s complete character evolution, the protagonist, Saitama, to confront what being a “hero” even means. And the epic showdown between Saitama and Orochi
This arc is packed with amazing yet brutal battles and offers a rich theme that would make this series level up. And that is why seeing it get the minimal effort trailer did not sit right with fans.
Even though the art style resembles Murata’s work, fans will be sorely disappointed if the animation quality doesn’t match. And the sheer importance of this arc means the studio knows the pressure is on. Ultimately, this is J.C. Staff’s shot at redemption.
