Wind Breaker live-action is ready to throw its first punch in theaters this December. Satoru Nii has brought this amazing tale to life with lots of blood, sweat, tears, and realistic locations. The choice of shooting locations creates a sense of realism throughout this film, which will show the incredible journey of Haruka as he fights for and protects his community while creating bonds with his fellow brawlers.
The Wind Breaker live-action movie drops December 5, 2025, with Koshi Mizukami taking the lead role, Kentaro Hagiwara directing, and Yasutaka Matsumoto performing in supporting roles. Additionally, Warner Bros. will be the film's distributor.

Windbreaker live-action was produced in southern Okinawa on location, from February to April, through shooting all of it on-site using a local shopping district and traditional Okinawa as a portion of their main set design. The filmmakers transformed an area of the shopping district into a fully developed set. As well, they rented out an entire shopping avenue, creating detailed storefronts to reflect the world of Furin High School and its surrounding shopping area of Tong Poo.

The Source Material of Wind Breaker Live-Action

Satoru Nii put out Wind Breaker on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket digital comics platform back in January 2021. As of now, Wind Breaker has 22 volumes released so far and has built an enormous fan base because of the intensity of the fights and the well-developed characters.
It's about Haruka Sakura, a 1st-year student of Furin High School who moves to the town to start his journey as a fighter. But what he finds out is that the Boufurin or the Furin delinquents are more like protectors of the town and not just your average classic bullies. This information really opens Sakura's eyes to the truth of the world, and he must therefore be forced to see what it means to be strong.
Kodansha USA Publishing has also picked Wind Breaker up for English publication, and as of Spring 2022, readers can now read Wind Breaker digitally as well as in monthly print volume releases!
What Fans Can Expect
The promotional advertisements say they'll have lots of crazy action scenes that are like what you see in the manga, and they released some new videos leading up to the premiere showing some of the fights, like Sakura vs. Sugishita not being friendly.
During interviews with the cast, they talked about how physically demanding the fight sequences were. JUNON said he liked watching the animated version before agreeing to play the role, and the other cast members discussed how hard it was to do complicated fight scenes while also being true to their characters.
The Wind Breaker live-action movie is being presented in a new way as its director said he wants to bring the delinquent (yankee) style films into a modern-day format, but still respect the essence of the traditional delinquent film styles.
