ATWT favorite lands role in FOX comedy

Eric Sheffer Stevens, who recently picked up a handful of Soap Central Dankies, has landed a post-As the World Turns gig. The actor will flex his comedy muscles in a new series planned for FOX.

As The World Turns fans craving another dose of Eric Sheffer Stevens, who portrayed the arrogant but irresistible Dr. Oliver Reid, will be ecstatic about FOX's comedy pilot, I Hate My Teenage Daughter. The half-hour show tells the comedic tales of two mothers who realize that they've raised the same breed of mean girls who'd antagonized them in school. Stevens joins the cast as the ex-husband of one of those mothers, Annie, played by Jaime Pressly.

Stevens appeared on ATWT for only a short time in 2010; however, he made an indelible mark on the show by costarring in its breakthrough gay storyline as the character powerful enough to dissolve the Luke and Noah love affair. Stevens' palpable charisma won the hearts of fans, who, after Reid's on-screen passing in September 2010, raised over $20,000 for Doctors Without Borders in the actor's honor.

Stevens was also graced with several 2011 Soap Central Dankies wins. Two of the awards include Best Newcomer and Favorite Storyline, which is ironic, because the winning storyline involved Reid's tragic death in the same year that the character had arrived in town.

I Hate My Teenage Daughter will begin filming March 31, 2011, in Burbank, California. Free tickets to the taping might still be available through Audiences Unlimited.
