B&B's Reign Edwards on Nicole's upcoming pregnancy twist: It couldn't be more heartbreaking

The Bold and the Beautiful's Reign Edwards (Nicole Avant) opens up about what is probably the soapiest baby birth story in the history of the genre.

Hold onto your seats, The Bold and the Beautiful fans, because Nicole Avant's super soapy baby storyline is about to get bumpy. Or shall we say bumpier...

The character is set to give birth to a baby on Tuesday, May 17, after she was artificially inseminated with her brother-in-law's sperm (that'd be Jacob Young's Rick), so he and her transgender sister, Maya (Karla Mosley), could have a child together. And that's just the beginning of the convoluted story that saw Nicole's boyfriend, Zende (Rome Flynn), sleeping with her other sister, Sasha (Felicia Cooper) -- who Nicole's portrayer, Reign Edwards, reveals is also now pregnant!

"Oh, Lord," the actress exclaims with a laugh to TV Insider about the super soapy twists and turns. "When I found out about it, the B&B fan in me was going, 'Oh my God! Nooo!' But the actress in me knew this was the coolest twist ever. Nicole is just devastated. She now fully understands what it means to bring a baby into the world -- the incredible joy and beauty of that -- and she's all set to have a happy life with Zende [whom she has forgiven], and now Sasha is going to have his first baby, which means she's always going to be in the picture. That's a lot to swallow. Maya and Rick are going to be wrapped up with their baby, and Sasha and Zende will be wrapped up with their baby. And then there's Nicole. Alone."

But don't think the young model will be the only one hurting during the crazy situation. As Edwards points out, Avant family drama is front and center, and Nicole's anger is firmly directed in one direction. "Nicole's problem is with their father, Julius [Obba Babatundé]," she explains. "He had an affair and made Sasha lie about being his daughter ever since she was a little girl. He rejected both Maya and Sasha, so it's like Nicole, who grew up being very lonely, lost two sisters in life. Then there's the unbelievable, horrible pain this betrayal causes Nicole's mom [Vivienne, played by Anna Maria Horsford]. And now the Avant family is falling apart. It couldn't be more heartbreaking."
