The Bold and the Beautiful's Ashley Jones (Bridget Forrester) was as shocked as the rest of the entertainment world when news of Malcolm-Jamal Warner's tragic passing broke. The daytime star worked with the primetime actor only a few short years ago and had fond memories of their time together on set.

Fifty-four-year-old Warner tragically drowned while on vacation with his family in Costa Rica. In 2022, Jones appeared with him on an episode of the FOX series, The Resident, which ran from 2017 to 2023. Warner played AJ Austin throughout the show's run.

"Malcolm, It was only about an 8-day stretch I got to hang and work with you on set," Jones wrote on Instagram. "I was a big fan, but you were a friend. You were the real deal. Talked about your wife and daughter, your music, your poetry. We talked about my son and some hard life stuff I was going through…you were inspiring. Encouraged me to keep directing. Keep challenging myself. It was an honor — and I pray your family is comforted. Your legacy will live on. Rest easy in God’s hands."

In the episode titled "The Proof is in the Pudding," Jones played Diana Anza, the mother of a young patient with a rare bone disease, according to IMDb. On B&B, she plays a doctor who is currently curious about a sudden cure for an inoperable tumor.

Warner was only 13 years old when he came to fame as teenage Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, Claire and Cliff Huxtable's only son in a house full of girls. Warner remained with the show from 1984 to 1992. He went on to have a starring role in Malcolm and Eddie from 1996 to 2000. Other roles included Chuck Cooper on Major Crimes and Julius Rowe on Suits.

However, he was always best known as Theo on one of the most beloved sitcoms from the 1980s and 1990s.

"I know I can speak for all the cast when I say The Cosby Show is something that we are all still very proud of," Warner had told PEOPLE in 2023.

When Beyond the Gates star Karla Mosley, who played Jones' sister-in-law on The Bold and the Beautiful, saw Jones' post, she responded by writing, "So heartbroken. What a loss of light."
