The Bold and the Beautiful's Carter joined a long, long, long list of men who listen in at doors, but never quite get the whole picture before running off and doing something utterly stupid. Ridge and Liam are masters at this, so apparently, Carter learned from the best in a mixed bag week that left our eyes rolling — and in tears.
Hope didn't last long...

After assuring Steffy that she wouldn't let Liam know that she knew he was dying, Hope let Liam know that she knew he was dying. To Steffy's credit, she pretty much expected this, and she was right on the money. Hope couldn't keep it together for five minutes after Liam walked through the front door...after immediately summoning him. Did she think weeping and talking about how they should form a little family again wouldn't give Liam a hint?
Of course, Liam figured out that Steffy spilled the beans, but that's when the real waterworks came, and we remembered that once upon a time in a soap opera galaxy far, far away, we loved Liam and Hope. And they loved each other. It was easy to lose sight of that every time he jumped to Steffy when the going got tough. Liam now realizes he didn't do right by either woman, but he loved them in his own way and still does.
Perhaps there really is a reason Hope hasn't been willing to truly commit to anyone else since her marriage to Liam ended more than two years ago. It was her actions that led to Liam leaving after she impulsively kissed Thomas in Rome, and Hope said, "Okay, wanna play at that game? Here are divorce papers." So, Hope and Liam divorced.
Maybe it was a little hasty, or maybe it was right, but if Liam really does die (the jury is still out on whether B&B is actually going there), it's a moot point. However, Hope had some pretty good points when trying to reason with Liam when she begged him not to make a decision for his loved ones and deprive them of their right to be there for him and say goodbye.
Hiding an illness due to not wanting to be a burden is a big soap trope, but rarely do we hear the point of view of loved ones and family members. Kudos to The Bold and the Beautiful for addressing that aspect.
Now back to our regularly scheduled Bold trope

Oh, Carter, you stupid, stupid man. First, his love for Hope has never made sense and still makes very little sense, but we are apparently supposed to go with the idea of this grand love story that lasted about three minutes before Hope and Carter stole a company.
Second, stop listening in on private conversations. It's not like Carter got to the door and just happened to hear something. He opened the door, saw Liam there, quietly backed up, half-closed the door, and got to eavesdropping. What Carter heard was like a social media political clip devoid of context. That leads people to make poor choices, and that's exactly what Carter did.
We enjoyed him telling that interloper Daphne to lay off Hope and stop listening to office gossip that probably only came from Steffy anyway, but as soon as the going got tough for Carter, he let Daphne into his home and likely into his bed by Monday.
And Daphne's "love" for Carter? That makes even less sense than Carter's sudden love for Hope. She's been in town for a hot minute, and Friday was the first time she's ever seen Carter outside the Forrester Creations building. Where does this great love she has for "Carter Walton" come from? Who even is this woman we know nothing about, except that she creates magic perfume? Maybe we'd be more invested in Carter and Daphne and Carter and Hope if there was something to invest in, because instalove is not it.
Precious Steffy can do no wrong

Whether Steffy was right to tell Hope the truth about Liam is debatable, but she did it anyway and had to have assurances that she did the right thing. Did she really expect anyone to tell her that she didn't? When is Steffy ever wrong in the eyes of those who surround her? Finn was off to a good start when he voiced slight frustration and disappointment in Steffy for betraying Liam's confidence, but within minutes, he was singing her praises.
Taylor later joined the Choir of Praise, telling Steffy that she is the picture of caring purity and perfection, who only ever wants to do the right thing. Listening to Finn and Taylor pour it on thick (and mean it, too!) so Steffy would never have to feel she has flaws was par for the course on The Steffy Show.
Yes, Ma'am

Not only is Steffy the perfect specimen of a human, but she is also the boss. She forgot all about Liam and his inoperable tumor the second she walked through her front door and found Luna Nozawa standing there begging Finn to be her daddy. She once again made sure her lump of a husband would obey every order she dished out and never, ever see Luna again.
Now, Steffy has some pretty good points about Luna, but she really needs to let Finn think and speak for himself sometimes. She acts more like his mother than his wife half the time, and there's absolutely nothing romantic about it. We are waiting for the day Finn finally just loses it on his demanding and whiny wife.
But alas, we will spend countless more weeks watching Steffy weep while Finn is at her beck and call. Le sigh.
