Nick had helped Jackie bring some packages into the house while Jackie discussed the architect's plans for their company "M." Nick had asked when Jackie would turn a profit in the company and Jackie assured him it took time to turn things around with a new business. Nick had poured himself a drink, mumbling under his breath. Jackie realized he'd changed the subject and Nick admitted he had women troubles. He explained to Jackie about Katie and Bridget while Jackie seemed amused he had two women fighting over him.

Nick mentioned Katie's likes being similar to his and Jackie said he was falling for the babysitter. Nick said Katie was a grown woman, hardly a child but Katie was also Bridget's Aunt. Jackie had forgotten the connection and said it definitely was a complicated situation.

In Nick's den, Bridget demanded answers from Katie. Katie had admitted that she and Nick had only kissed but nothing else had happened. However, Katie felt insulted when Bridget said she thought it was "cute" that Katie had a crush on Nick. Bridget asked if Nick had feelings for Katie. Katie said it wasn't like they stayed up all night talking about it, and there was nothing going on between them. Bridget said she was glad, as it would've been weird because Katie was the babysitter. Insulted, Katie asked if being the babysitter meant she wasn't sexy or hot enough for Nick. Bridget said she she'd never thought of Katie and Nick that way. Katie sarcastically asked Bridget if it was because Katie couldn't give him the unbridled attention Bridget did. Bridget said she'd been through a lot with Nick, knew him better than anyone, and didn't want Katie to get her hopes up. Bridget changed the subject and said she'd go fix a bottle for Jack. Katie sarcastically replied that she was the babysitter so she'd go, and left the room. Talking to herself, Bridget said she'd lost Nick once before and she wasn't losing him again, especially to Aunt Katie.

Jackie greeted Bridget when she returned to the living room. Bridget checked out the gifts Jackie had brought for Jack. Bridget said Jack would be the best-dressed baby in the "mommy and me" exercise class she had planned on bringing him to. When Jackie began to question her, Bridget said she loved Nick but wasn't getting her expectations up. She said she was aware Jackie wanted Brooke and Nick together, but Brooke's time with Nick had passed. Nick came downstairs with Jack and asked Bridget how things had gone with Katie. Jackie grabbed the opportunity, took Jack, and went back upstairs with him.

Bridget said Katie had informed her of the kiss. She said while she knew it didn't mean anything, it had hurt her. She asked Nick to never let it happen again, and if he decided he wanted to kiss someone else, to discuss it with her first. Bridget said it was cute that Katie had a crush on him, but Nick meant the world to Bridget. He said she knew how he felt and kissed her. Jackie called for Nick to come upstairs as Katie walked out of the kitchen with a bottle. Nick grabbed the bottle and went up to tend to his son.

Bridget told Katie she'd had a chance to talk with Nick. When Katie asked how it went, Bridget said when she'd been married to Nick before, they had never really had a shot. Bridget said she had lost him once and had no intention of losing him again, especially to Katie.

Brooke and Ridge met up in his office. Brooke asked if he had told Ashley the truth about Stephanie's shooting. Ridge lied and said he hadn't told Ashley. Brooke said maybe Storm and Ashley could go on another date and Ridge said they already were. He admitted he'd seen them at Café Rouse having dinner, and he didn't feel comfortable about it. Brooke admitted surprise that they had gone out on a date so soon but felt it was a good sign. Ridge said he wasn't comfortable having Storm around people he cared about.

Brooke defended her brother's actions. She said Storm had snapped once but was healing. Ridge said Brooke had tunnel vision when it came to her brother. She said Ridge's concerns weren't about Storm, but were about Ashley. He said Storm was a loose cannon and he didn't want Storm around anyone he cared about, including Ashley. Brooke said Storm wasn't a threat to anyone and she felt he was infatuated with Ashley.

Ashley and Storm had left the restaurant and were in his car. Ashley had Ridge's warning echoing in her head while Storm remembered his last words with Ridge. Ashley offered to take a cab home rather than Storm going out of his way but Storm said it was no trouble. He drove off and halfway to Ashley's he pulled the car off to the side of the road. Startled, Ashley asked him what was wrong. Storm apologized and admitted he'd seen her and Ridge talking and wanted to know what Ridge had said to her. Ashley said she hadn't thought it was a big deal to mention it but Ridge found her to discuss a problem at work. Storm apologized and said he had just been worried Ridge would try to ruin things between them. Ashley said they'd had a fun night together but she was tired and ready to go home. She offered to call a cab to come and get her but Storm said he'd bring her home.

After they arrived at Ashley's house, Storm walked her to her door. Ashley said she'd had a good time and Storm wanted to go inside for a nightcap. She said she was tired and needed rest for work. Storm said, "Yes, on the BeLieF pattern," and asked Ashley if she believed in the fun she'd had with him or in Ridge's dislike of Storm. Ashley said she'd had fun but the evening was over because she was tired. She kissed Storm goodnight, went inside, and locked the door. Storm realized Ridge had told Ashley because she had changed towards him.

Inside, Ridge called Ashley on her cell phone to make sure she got home okay. She thanked him for telling her about Storm and assured him she'd locked her door. Meanwhile, outside, Storm stood in the rain watching Ashley and said to himself that Ridge would not get away with ruining Storm's relationship with Ashley.

In the morning, Rick went to Taylor's house after working all night long with the Forrester Creations attorneys on a document to prevent Brooke from obtaining custody of Jack. When Rick explained what the document was about, Taylor was elated.

Rick reiterated that he was there to help Taylor regain custody of her son. Taylor was so grateful for Rick's help that she told him that she loved him.

At Forrester Creations, Ridge told Ashley that he was glad that she was okay after her date with Storm. Ridge told her that he still had a soft spot for her. Ridge asked Ashley not to tell anyone that Storm was the one who shot Stephanie. Ridge told Ashley that Stephanie had made an agreement with the Logan family that she would not turn Storm in to the police. Ashley agreed to not tell anyone about Storm. Ashley could not understand why Stephanie would have agreed to such a thing. Ridge explained that Stephanie agreed not to notify the police about Storm with the hope that her good deed would help her regain Eric's affection.

Katie went to Nick's house. There she denied to Nick that she had a crush on him. Brooke went to Nick's house to speak with Bridget. Nick informed Brooke that Bridget was not living there. Brooke was curious about Katie's presence. Katie explained that she was Jack's babysitter. Brooke begged Nick for more contact with Jack. She claimed that she thought about Jack every day and she wanted to be with Jack as a mother. Nick reminded Brooke that she had signed away her parental rights to Jack and consequently had no right to ask for anything. Brooke continued to beg Nick about visitation with Jack.

Shortly after Brooke left, Taylor and Rick arrived at Nick's house. Rick told Nick that he had legal papers drawn up to prevent Brooke from gaining custody of Jack. Furthermore, Rick expounded that if Brooke did obtain custody, Jack would be living with Brooke and Ridge. Taylor tried to explain to Nick that she had overcome her problems and was no risk to Jack. She told Nick that part of the legal document was a statement from Nick indicating that he approved of Taylor regaining custody of Jack. Nick did not immediately sign the papers.

Pam turned on Eric's intercom just as Eric and Donna walked in. Pam explained she was there to tidy up as she couldn't resist the urge to toss out anything trashy. Donna asked if Pam had a doily to knit or something so Pam returned to her desk. Thorne and Felicia were at Pam's desk eating lemon bars, gushing about how good they were. Thorne noticed Tiny was there and said how Doberman's had a bad reputation but were one of the best-behaved dogs. He and Felicia said their goodbyes and went back to work. After they'd rounded the corner, Pam turned on her intercom and eavesdropped on Donna and Eric.

Unaware they were being overheard, Donna tried to seduce Eric but he claimed he had a busy day, while Donna felt spurned. She said he'd had his fill and wasn't attracted to her any longer, and Eric wondered where her insecurities were coming from. She let him know by making reference to his snoring during her jungle seduction. Eric apologized and said it had never happened before and probably wouldn't again. Pam chuckled as she listened in and said her plan was working.

Donna walked out and Pam offered her a lemon bar. Donna replied she'd rather eat strychnine. Pam noticed that Donna looked different, laughed and said it was because Donna didn't look like a freak any longer. Donna told Pam not to push it, to give it a rest. Pam got a kick out of the "rest" part and it took a moment before Donna realized Pam might have been responsible for Eric's nap during their last romantic liaison. As Donna began to threaten Pam, Tiny growled at her, causing Donna to jump back. Pam laughed, then took a lemon bar and ate it. She commented how they were bad for Tiny and Donna said the lemon bars were only fit for a dog to eat anyway. They exchanged a few more nasty barbs before Pam walked off with Tiny. Donna's cell phone rang, so she answered it and jotted down some information. As she hung up, Tiny and Pam returned and Tiny frightened Donna when he growled at her again.

Pam brought Eric his mail and asked to speak freely. She said that it wasn't too late and Eric should give Stephanie another chance. Eric said he planned on marrying Donna and for Pam to stop with her games. He said he was aware Pam was behind Donna's recent mishaps and demanded she stop harassing his fiancée. While they talked, Donna went up to Pam's desk and tossed the lemon bars down for Tiny, who gobbled them up. Eric dismissed Pam, who returned to her desk. She started to talk to Tiny but heard him whimper. When she looked down, she realized he was ill.

Rick and Taylor continued to beg Nick to sign the legal papers giving Taylor custody of Jack. Nick said he needed time to think while Taylor begged him to reconsider. Katie said Nick was right to take the time to think rather than being steamrolled into making a decision. Taylor said "as opposed to what, your sister's vendetta against me?" Katie mentioned Taylor's drinking and Taylor said she hadn't had a drink in weeks. Nick said while he felt Taylor was a capable parent, he needed to know she was stable enough to have Jack. Rick argued with Nick that Taylor was capable, and Katie asked if it wasn't a preemptive strike to get Brooke out of Jack's life. Katie said that it boiled down to what was best for Jack. Taylor said what she was doing was for Jack.

Taylor said Jack needed to know where he fit in in the world and who his parents were. Katie started to interrupt, but Taylor asked Katie what gave her the right to speak. Rick said Katie was biased towards Brooke, but Katie said she was biased towards Jack. Katie said if Taylor hadn't had a complete meltdown, she'd tell Nick to go ahead and sign the papers but, due to the uncertainty, Nick had a lot to consider. Taylor asked Katie who she was to judge Taylor and Nick yelled that he wanted to speak. He said he was Jack's father and had sole custody, therefore Brooke's or Taylor's involvement would be completely up to him. Rick handed the papers to Nick and told him to make the right decision. Taylor quietly said Nick knew in his heart what the right one was. Nick left the room to ponder his decision.

Taylor remained in Nick's living room, fretting about Nick's decision, while Rick remained optimistic. Katie entered Nick's den and when he asked if she was going to tell him what he should do, she said she'd already said enough. Nick said, "Yeah, according to Prince Valiant" (referring to Rick). Katie said Rick and Taylor's relationship gave her the creeps and it was weird that Taylor was latching onto Brooke's son while Brooke was latching onto Taylor's. Nick asked Katie if he should sign the document. Katie said if Nick had any doubts about Taylor being ready, he should not sign the document.

Nick said he was supposed to be raising Jack with Taylor, and Jack needed a mother. He asked Katie if she thought some poor unsuspecting female would come along and take up with a wreck like him. She said it would be a project but.... Nick replied, "Everyone needs a hobby." Katie said considering what the woman would get as part of the package, it would be worth it. Nick assumed she meant his money, house, and boat but Katie simply said "Jack." She said she was certain Nick would find someone to give Jack what he needed growing up, but Nick would be the tough part of the deal.

Nick and Taylor were alone in the living room. Nick said for a woman who spent her life analyzing people and their feelings, Taylor hadn't done a good job of it. Taylor asked if he was referring to Brooke and Nick said he was referring to himself. He said he had committed himself to a life with Taylor and Jack, and when a few things went wrong, it all fell apart. He said Taylor walked out on him and their son. Nick said he didn't want to be cruel but the court had made a decision. Taylor told him to just tell her he didn't want her to have a place in her son's life.

Taylor cried and said she was at Brooke's mercy again. Nick said he wasn't out to hurt her. Rick came barging in, grabbed the legal documents, and shoved them towards Nick. Rick said Nick should do the right thing, but Nick didn't back down from his decision. Rick tore up the papers and put his arm around Taylor. He said he loved Taylor and if Nick wanted a war over Jack, he had one, but it was a war Rick and Taylor were going to win.

Nick told Katie he hated what the entire custody battle was doing to Taylor. Katie said he did the right thing when he refused to sign a legal document that stated he believed Taylor should have shared custody. Nick disagreed and he questioned his own lack of faith in Taylor. Katie claimed Taylor wasn't stable, and she told Nick he should wait to share custody with Taylor-no matter how long it took-until a judge was convinced Taylor was stable. Katie remarked that Taylor's relationship with Rick was odd. Neither Katie nor Nick could understand why Rick, whom Nick referred to as a kid, and Taylor would be attracted to one another. Katie said that the relationship was a sign of Taylor's instability. Katie added that both Brooke and Taylor had issues where Jack was concerned, and both should not be able to cloud the issue of custody. Nick said that Jack needed a mother, and Nick worried that the custody battle would take a long time. Katie claimed Jack would get plenty of love and attention from both Nick and Katie. Katie claimed she loved Jack and enjoyed spending time with Jack and Nick. Katie told Nick he was a pleasure to be around, and that Nick impressed her. Then, she grabbed his hand.

At Taylor's place, Rick and Taylor discussed the fact that Nick wouldn't sign the legal document that indicated Taylor would be able to care for Jack. Rick and Taylor vowed that Taylor would regain custody, but it would take time. Taylor thanked Rick for being the only person who supported her. Rick changed into his swimsuit, and romanced Taylor. Rick said the entire custody situation opened the door that brought Rick into Taylor's life. Taylor told Rick that she loved him, and they kissed. Taylor asked Rick to put some clothes on, but Rick asked Taylor to remove some clothes. The discussion led to the resolution that they both wanted to make love, but Taylor said the timing wasn't right.

At Forrester, Felicia and Thorne were testing out a fragrance as they waited for Donna. She entered the meeting, and suddenly, they all noticed a horrible odor coming from the reception area. They all went out to Pam's desk where Tiny apparently had some gastrointestinal distress, and left a mess. One of the employees called a janitor to clean up the mess and move the dog to the loading dock. Felicia told Pam the dog could no longer be at Forrester. Pam argued that Tiny was her baby, and he had to come to work with her. Felicia and Thorne agreed that Tiny had to be moved, and could not return to Forrester. Then, Pam spotted Donna, and accused Donna of making the dog sick. Pam and Donna went into Eric's office and argued. Donna told Pam that she threw a lemon bar to the dog when he snarled and barked at her. Pam cried that Tiny had a sensitive stomach-something she claimed to have told Donna. Pam worried that all the lemon bars were gone, and that was what could have made the dog sick. Felicia called Pam to the reception area because Tiny had passed out. Pam kept begging the dog to wake up. Donna also sat down on the floor, and begged Tiny to wake up.

At his house, Nick said he was honored that Katie was impressed by him. The doorbell rang so Nick answered the door. A deliveryman had him sign for an envelope that contained Taylor's court-ordered psychological evaluation. Nick was pleased to read that Taylor did well on it and expressed regret at having to keep her from Jack. Nick said that since Taylor had passed the evaluation, the court hearing would immediately follow. Katie asked how Brooke would handle it and Nick said Brooke only wanted what was best for Jack. Timed perfectly, Brooke knocked on the door and let herself in. When she inquired about the outcome of Taylor's evaluation, Nick handed her the envelope to read for herself.

Katie stood by silently as Brooke read then ranted about the evaluation. Brooke said Taylor hadn't even accepted that Brooke was Jack's biological mother, nor did the evaluation mention Taylor's relationship with Rick. Nick said it was a professional evaluation not an exposé. Brooke said it was one shrink interviewing another and Taylor knew all the buzzwords and things not to say to pass the evaluation. Brooke said she knew Taylor was only seeing Rick out of anger towards Brooke and worried about how that would affect Jack. She said maybe Taylor had done all she could do for Jack; maybe it was time to let go.

Brooke said Nick should retain sole custody, but Nick disagreed and said Jack needed a mother. Brooke said she had feelings for Jack like any mother would and she would step back if Taylor's behavior were consistent. Nick asked if Brooke was proposing he share custody with her. She said they could share "unofficial" custody. Nick laughed and said the next sound she'd hear would be Ridge walking out the door on her if that happened. Brooke said Ridge had made concessions and Nick asked if one of them was her co-parenting a child with Nick. Brooke said it wasn't about Ridge, but about saving and protecting Jack. She said Taylor wasn't a good person for Jack and he needed to be raised in a stable, dependable, loving environment. Nick and Katie shared a look over Brooke's shoulder. Brooke turned and asked Katie if she was wrong. Katie quietly said, "No, you're not wrong."

Brooke expressed concern over the possibility of Rick moving in with Taylor and the impact it would have on Jack. Nick said while he wasn't thrilled about that relationship, it had nothing to do with Taylor's emotional state. Brooke continued to plead her case with Nick to retain sole custody, but Katie cut her off and said that Brooke had lost sight of the fact that Taylor was Jack's mother. Katie said Brooke had made it all about her instead of Jack. Brooke said as long as Taylor and Rick remained involved, they would never provide a stable environment for Jack, and that would be Brooke's worst nightmare.

At her house, Taylor canceled her appointments with patients so she could take a day off. Rick brought in sandwiches for them to eat as the doorbell rang. Rick answered it and a deliveryman had him sign for an envelope from Taylor's attorney. Taylor knew it was the results from her psychological evaluation, but couldn't open it. Rick opened it, flipped to the last page and read the results. Taylor watched him and mouthed "what" as Rick looked up and smiled.

Rick said Taylor would get her custody of Jack again due to the outcome of the evaluation. Taylor was thrilled but said she would never allow anyone to have that kind of power over her again. She thanked Rick and said she wasn't going to allow anyone to tell her that he didn't belong in her life. Rick said she needed to stop defending their relationship because they couldn't change the way people thought about them.

In anticipation of getting custody of Jack, Taylor folded Jack's bedding to keep herself busy. When Rick teased her about it, she said she needed to do something to believe Jack would come home with her. She thanked Rick again for believing in her and seeing her for who she was. Rick said he didn't care what people thought of them and asked Taylor what "name" they should apply to their relationship. She said they weren't lovers, but they were more than friends and didn't feel they really needed a name. Rick said he did and got down on one knee and asked Taylor to marry him.

At Forrester Creations, Felicia called the vet to come examine an unresponsive Tiny. Donna said she'd only fed him the lemon bars and she was sure he'd be fine. Pam turned and gave Donna an angry glare. Just then, the vet showed up to examine Tiny while Felicia consoled Pam.

Thorne returned with the vet who asked what happened. Donna explained that the dog cornered her so she gave him a few lemon bars and Pam accused her of lying. The doctor asked Pam if she'd been giving him his pills for his heart condition (cardiomyopathy). Pam admitted she had only been giving him one instead of two doses each day. The doctor reminded Pam how serious Tiny's heart condition was. Pam assumed he'd be fine but the doctor simply said she was sorry. The doctor said congestive heart failure was the reason Tiny died. Pam cried and said she didn't know love before Tiny and didn't know what she'd do without him. The doctor and Thorne left the room to make arrangements for Tiny. Felicia stayed behind to console Pam until Pam caught sight of Donna and accused her of killing Tiny.

Donna tried to apologize, but Pam wouldn't listen. Pam said Donna was responsible for Tiny's death and she had gone to far. Donna reminded Pam the doctor had said Tiny died because of lack of medication and his heart condition. Pam said Donna was trying to blame her and began to cry again. Donna said she was truly sorry and asked Pam to accept her apology. Pam told Donna she would never accept the apology.
