The Bold and the Beautiful Daily YAPP Recap, October 7: How did Deke become Hope's LITTLE brother?

Welcome to The Bold and the Beautiful Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful

We have seen soaps play hard and fast with ages, as it's a genre that's known for SORAS, aka Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome, but it's rare when they reverse who is the older and younger sibling. Deke was absolutely born before Hope. In fact, he was born before Deacon Sharpe ever arrived in this fictional version of Los Angeles. For years, he was even known as Little Eric, with Amber Moore thinking she was his mother. His real mother was Amber's cousin, Becky. Deacon tried to gain custody of his son, who was still being raised by Amber, and even called him Little D, but he didn't raise Deke, nor did he raise Hope. And Hope? She was born after Deacon had been living in L.A. for quite a while, so not only would Hope and Deke barely know one another, but Hope would be the younger sibling, not Deke. Yet, when Deke entered the Forrester Creations showroom on Tuesday, Hope greeted him as if they had always been close. She even mentioned how tall he now was and how much he had grown since the last time she had seen him. That would indicate that Deke is certainly younger than Hope on present-day The Bold and the Beautiful. We guess we're just supposed to suspend our disbelief and live with it.
