It's been more than a year since Ashleigh Brewer reappeared on The Bold and the Beautiful scene as Eric Forrester's niece, Ivy, and this week, the show finally gave her a chance to shine.
Not just a talk-to
Except for a few brief scenes at Il Giardino with Scott Clifton's Liam last year, we have hardly heard or seen Ivy's point of view on anything. During those scenes in 2024, the chemistry between Brewer and Clifton was apparent, as was the fact that Ivy still harbored feelings for her ex.
Since then, Ivy has been little more than a talk-to for her niece, Electra (Laneya Grace). We have barely seen Ivy as a character unto herself, as she's reacted to Electra's many soapy problems like a proper sidekick would. However, Ivy is anything but a sidekick, as Brewer magnificently proved during her first B&B run from 2014 to 2018.
In recent weeks, Ivy has mentioned Liam a few times as Electra has lamented her own love life, and Brewer has made it clear that Ivy's loneliness was at the forefront of her mind. When Electra finally convinced Ivy to tell Liam how she felt, Ivy did so with gusto, but things didn't turn out as planned.
The Bold and the Beautiful's Ivy lets herself be vulnerable
Thanks to Brewer, Ivy's nerves were palpable as she struggled to get the words out. She displayed a cheerful demeanor, but her longing was apparent on her face and in her voice. When Liam let Ivy down easy and told her that he felt his future belonged with Hope (Annika Noelle), Brewer didn't miss a beat.
Ivy was surprised but not surprised at the same time. She was used to this, but was willing to wear her heart on her sleeve anyway. Brewer subtly showed us how broken that heart was with Liam's words, but she put on a smile and returned to Electra to tell her what happened.

Ivy's bright smile and words of advice were back within minutes, but those few scenes with Liam were proof that Brewer deserves her own story with her own love interest. Let Ivy have a life outside Electra, cause Brewer shines when she does.
