The Bold and the Beautiful Recap, July 15: Liam agreed to experimental surgery

What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful

Bill sat in Liam's room while Grace examined him. Liam was back in a joking mood and implied that Bill smelled, wondering if there were any scrubs for his dad. "I don't think my dad's left that chair in days," Liam said.

"I had to fight the whole family to get in here. I'm not leaving until you've recovered," Bill said. Grace was happy to report that Liam was healing well from the gunshot wound.

"Bill sat by Liam and took his hand. Nobody's feeling luckier than I am. I could have lost my son, and it would have been all my fault. I got Luna pardoned and unleashed her on my family," Bill told Liam, who assured Bill it was over now and he didn't blame him.

Bill then asked Liam why he didn't tell him about the brain tumor. "I don't blame you for keeping me in the dark, Liam. The way I treated you, the decisions I made. I put the people I love in jeopardy," Bill explained.

Liam told his dad that he wasn't trying to punish him. He just didn't want to burden Bill with his problems. "I didn't want my last moments to be spent mourning," Liam said.

"It's funny. Getting shot and almost dying that way made me see I was not ready. I thought I was ready, but I'm not," Liam relayed, "I'm not ready to go, and I want to fight this. I figured if Luna can't kill me, why should I let a brain tumor? There's gotta be another chapter ahead, right?"

Grace then asked to speak to Bill privately. "Is there any real hope for my son, Dr. Buckingham?" Bill asked. "What if I told you there is?" Grace replied. She explained how she had been researching an experimental procedure. "It's not something this hospital could sign off on or even know about," Grace told Bill.

Grace let Bill know the procedure was expensive, but Bill said his son's life was priceless. Grace detailed how risky the procedure could be. She needed help convincing Liam to go through with it. "Don't worry. I'll get through to him," Bill assured.

Bill later told Liam about the surgery. "It actually has a chance of working and not just delaying the inevitable?" Liam asked. Grace told Liam that her colleague was on his way to Los Angeles to do the procedure if Liam wanted it. After Grace explained a bit more, Liam agreed. Bill would whisk him to another facility, and the surgery would be done the next day.

In Eric's living room, Donna made sure to talk all about an upcoming Forrester Creations trip to Italy.. "What about your sister? You think she'll go?" Taylor asked. Donna thought that Brooke should go, since her showstopper moment was the talk of the fashion show a few months ago.

Donna seemed genuinely concerned for Taylor and asked her how she felt about all this. "I trust the Forresters to make the right decisions for their company. And personally, I trust Ridge to honor his commitment to me. Besides, I heard another man from Brooke's past is back in town. Nick Marone," Taylor said.

In Eric's office, Eric asked Brooke if she was okay with leaving town for a few days after all that had happened with Liam and Luna. Ridge assured them that Luna was no longer a threat. "Luna led a violent life, and that's how she died," he said matter-of-factly.

They marveled at how Liam saved the day, but could barely believe he had been battling brain cancer all these months. Eric turned his attention back to a business trip in Italy. He wanted Brooke to join him and Ridge. "I'm looking forward to making more beautiful memories in Italy," Brooke smiled.

After Brooke left the office, Eric couldn't help but talk about Brooke joining them on the trip. "It's not just going to be work. The beauty of Naples and Capri can't be ignored. You and Brooke should check it out," Eric suggested. He reminded Ridge how magical Italy always was for him and Brooke.

Ridge was just glad he could get Brooke away from Nick Marone, whom he described as an opportunist. Eric thought that Ridge was more concerned with his own feelings. Before Ridge got a chance to reply, Taylor appeared.

Eric left them alone for a few minutes, so Taylor took the opportunity to ask Ridge to set a wedding date.

In the design office, Nick surprised Brooke. He asked her how everyone was holding up after the shooting. Brooke was just glad Liam was going to pull through. She then told Nick about the upcoming trip to Italy. Nick couldn't believe she'd go to Italy with "Forrester."

"It's a business trip," Brooke insisted. Nick said he also had business in Italy, so he wanted Brooke to fly with him. Brooke balked, saying she would be much too busy with business. Nick said he would be busy too. "But you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to make time for you, which is the way you deserve to be treated," he said.
