The Bold and the Beautiful Recap, May 14: A tearful Liam vowed to never leave

What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful

Hope and Liam continued to embrace as Liam realized that Hope knew. He asked how she found out, but Hope remained silent. "Steffy," Liam finally said. "I am dying," he added, confirming what Hope already knew.

"This is what I was trying to avoid, and now you're hurt...Steffy was adamant about me coming clean,n and I guess she just took matters into her own hands," Liam said. Hope finally spoke. "Don't be upset with Steffy. I'm grateful to know. I want to be there for you, Liam," Hope cried.

Hope broke down sobbing, telling Liam how unfair it is and how there is not enough time. "We can't lose you. We can't," Hope wept as Liam took her in his arms. Liam went over everything that happened to lead to this diagnosis. "I really thought it was this freak one-off thing and I was recovering nicely...and then...mass on my brain. Inoperable," he said.

Hope frantically insisted there had to be some sort of experimental treatment out there. Liam didn't have much hope, so to speak. "The last thing I want to do is leave you. You and the girls, they're so young...I wanted to watch Kelly and Beth grow into the women that they're going to be, and I don't get to have that. This whole thing, it's made me really aware of how precious life is and how much I still have to live for," Liam smiled.

"I've always known I was lucky, but it took something so profoundly unlucky to help me see how fortunate I've been," Liam said. Hope was amazed that Liam could see anything positive, but Liam was a grateful man. "From day one, my mom, she was the best mom. Her love, it was all encompassing," he said. Liam was also grateful for his father and his brothers.

"And then, there's you and Beth and Steffy and Kelly...I can't really justify being angry," Liam admitted. Hope apologized to Liam for taking him and his love for granted, but Liam promised to always be there, whether looking down from heaven or in her heart.

Liam broke down in tears as Hope told him that she wanted to spend every moment she had left with him together. He apologized for not telling her. "The looks of pity, the sorrow. I don't want to go out as a burden," Liam said. Hope replied, "You are not a burden. Don't talk like that. Allow the people in your life who love you a chance to be there for you. Don't make that decision for them. Please," she begged.

Steffy lamented to Finn that she knew Liam would be upset with her for telling Hope the truth. "Probably," Finn said. Steffy repeated for the umpteenth time that Hope was married to Liam and is the mother of his child, so she needed to know. "I know I went against Liam's wishes, but it had to be done," she insisted.

Finn agreed with Steffy because that is his job. "You did the right thing. I totally understand. Hope needed to know," he said. Steffy explained that Hope was devastated when she dropped the bomb about Liam's health. "I started to cry. It was so hard to just say it...Then I just spit it out. She couldn't believe it," Steffy said. "The look on her face when the reality of Liam's situation sank in. I'm really the only person who understands what she's going through."

Steffy remembered her tumultuous history with Hope. "It's just so crazy. All those years we fought over Liam and then both of us ended up having a wonderful friendship with him instead," Steffy marveled. Finn believed that Hope and Steffy were going to need to lean on one another.

Steffy was ready to go check on Liam in the guest house, but Finn told her that Liam wasn't there. "Maybe he went to see Hope. He's probably going to realize that she knows," Steffy said. She didn't regret telling Hope the truth.

In the Forrester Creations design office, Carter couldn't stop thinking about his blink-and-you-miss-it romance with Hope. Brooke soon walked in and noted how distracted Carter seemed. Carter admitted that Hope was on his mind. "It still doesn't feel right. Being here at Forrester without Hope," Carter sighed.

Carter once again repeated all the things he did wrong. "I didn't stand up for her, Brooke. I didn't walk out when I had the opportunity," Carter said. Brooke understood that Steffy blindsided him when she went back on Eric and Ridge's deal about Hope and Hope For The Future.

Carter was pleased to hear Brooke tell him that she went to bat for him with Deacon. "Deep down, Hope is still in love with you," Brooke smiled. Carter was happy to agree with Brooke after the conversation he had with Hope earlier. "I do sense that Hope's feelings for me haven't changed," he happily said.

Carter thanked Brooke for her support. Brooke admitted that Carter was good for Hope. "You came along, and it just felt like it was her time to be happy and fulfilled, so don't give up. I know my daughter, she does love you," Brooke advised. "I'll never give up on her. I know we have a future together," Carter said.
