In Eric's office, Taylor assured Ridge that she felt confident in their relationship and wasn't questioning anything this time. "It's been a long time since I've been able to say this, but I believe in the two of us, despite Brooke," Taylor said.

"You're smile is even more radiant when you're this confident," Ridge told Taylor. However, he was surprised that Taylor wasn't bothered by seeing Brooke and Ridge on the runway. "Listen, I am not thrilled about it, but it's business. If that's what the fashion press wants to see, then great...It doesn't change what we have. You come home to me every night," Taylor said.

Ridge was amazed at the way Taylor was acting, telling her that this version of Taylor was the one he fell in love with. "You've transformed my life and shown me that love doesn't have to be complicated," Ridge said.

Taylor went on and on about how, after all they had been through, this was their time. "The best chapter of our lives," she said. Once he was alone, Ridge remembered times with both Brooke and Taylor, proving he was still as torn as ever.

In the design office, Brooke told Hope that she refused to give up on Ridge. Brooke wished she had gotten to Ridge before he learned she had taken the CEO job. Hope felt that Ridge overreacted to that, but she acknowledged her own wrongdoing in that whole situation.

"Life's too short to hold onto resentment, something I've been reminded of lately. That is why, even though Ridge and I have some issues, if he's what you want, if he makes you happy, then Mom, I want you to be with the man you love," Hope said.

Brooke was overjoyed when Hope told her that she was back with Carter. "I was hurt that Carter gave back the company without even discussing it with me first, but I understand the difficult position he was in," Hope explained. "I was talking about it with a friend and he reminded me how happy Carter made me, and it just made me realize all of those precious moments...why waste it on anger?" Hope asked.

When Hope told Brooke that she and Carter wanted to make the most of the time they had left, Brooke commented on how morbid a thought that was. Hope covered for herself. "I just meant that we want to cherish every moment that life has to offer," she said.

Brooke marveled at how Hope's fortunes had changed overnight. "Look at you now. You're back at Forrester, and now you're back with Carter. You have a bright future ahead of you," she said. Hearing that only made Hope think about Liam.

Once Brooke was alone, she could only think of Ridge. "After what we shared, every beautiful memory...there's no way we're done with each other, Ridge. I believe in you...and our destiny," she said to herself.

In his apartment, Daphne was confused when Carter told her that he had fallen in love with Hope again. "What about the things you overheard?" Daphne asked. "She told Liam she wants to be with him, not you."

"I misinterpreted," Carter said. "What is there to misinterpret?" Daphne wanted to know. Carter didn't get into details, but said, "I'm the man Hope wants to be with. I'm her future."

Daphne grew a bit frantic as she went off on Hope some more. "Don't let her lie to you. Cause that's what she's doing. She's making up excuses and trying to backpedal," Daphne accused.

Carter reiterated that it was all a misunderstanding, but Daphne wanted to make sure that Carter was certain. She cared about him and didn't want to see him hurt again. "She's not going to hurt me. I believe in my future with Hope, and nothing and no one is going to come between us," Carter insisted.

Daphne still refused to accept reality. "But you heard her. Why would she have said the words if she doesn't mean them?" Daphne asked. She was sure that Hope had to be manipulating Carter, who did his best to let her down easy.

"I hate that I'm hurting you. You're remarkable. You're special. But Hope's the one for me. And we'll get through this terrible understanding and be stronger from it. Thank you for being there for me. Thank you for listening," Carter said. Daphne finally gave up, put her hand to Carter's cheek, and said, "Au revoir," Carter Walton, before walking out.
