Brooke stopped by Il Giardano at Deacon's behest. He wanted to talk about Hope and her future. "I'm worried about her. I'm worried she's going to let Carter back into her life," Deacon said.

Deacon made his feelings clear about Carter, noting that Hope was in a tailspin after Carter's betrayal. "She thought Carter was going to be the one guy who didn't trample on her heart. But guess what? That's exactly what he did," Deacon griped.

Brooke was touched that Deacon was being so protective Hope, but she saw Hope and Carter's relationship differently than him. "It seems like you're promoting Carter," Deacon said incredulously. Brooke claimed she only wanted Hope to be happy. She was sure that Carter loved Hope.

Deacon pointed out that Hope had competition for Carter. After all, he kissed Daphne. Brooke shrugged it off. "There's only one woman for Carter. And that's Hope," Brooke assured Deacon. Brooke was relieved to learn that Deacon didn't pull a Cobra Kai on Carter when he saw him at Brooke's place earlier.

Brooke thanked Deacon for being supportive of Hope, but gave him some advice. "Let her choose the man she wants in her life," she said. "Even if that man isn't Carter? What if it's Liam?" Deacon suggested, much to Brooke's surprise. "Steffy is now happily married to Finn. And Liam, he still has feelings for Hope," Deacon pointed out.

In Eric's office, Carter told Daphne that it was clear she wanted him to move on from Hope. That was a great deduction, considering that's what Daphne had just said.

"Some romances last forever. Others are just a moment in time. Yours and Hope's? It seems to have come and gone," Daphne declared. Daphne insisted that the only reason Carter couldn't move on was that he felt guilty about Eric and Ridge — and Steffy — ousting Hope from the company. "Things happen for a reason. Maybe it's time you start making a life for yourself, Carter," Daphne advised.

Carter admitted to Daphne he was struggling, but that's because he wished that Hope were there.

Finn told Steffy that she did the right thing by urging Liam to open up to Hope. Steffy knew keeping his condition a secret couldn't be good for Liam's emotional and physical health. "It's just adding more stress to him and he's already dealing with so much," Steffy said.

Steffy went on and on about how none of this was fair. How could Liam have an inoperable brain tumor? Steffy repeated her stance about Liam telling Hope the truth. "Hope needs to be prepared to help Beth when the time comes," Steffy cried.

Steffy was relieved when Liam walked in, but not relieved when she learned he still didn't tell Hope the truth. "I'm not ready for that yet. You gotta let me do this my way," Liam said. Steffy didn't care what Liam had to say. "Hope's gonna want to be there for you. She deserves to know the truth," Steffy said firmly.

Liam explained that he didn't want his condition to take over people's lives. "I've got precious little time left here and you can call me selfish, but I'd rather use that time to lift people up and not watch people be sad at me all day long," he said.

After Liam left the room, Steffy picked up her purse and told Finn she was off to tell Hope the truth. When Liam returned to the room, he wondered where Steffy had gone. Finn didn't really give him an answer. Instead, he gave Liam a reminder. "Just remember, Steffy is here for you. And Hope would be too, if you'd let her," Finn told Liam.

Hope insisted to Liam that she knew something was wrong and begged him to tell her what was going on. Liam remembered Steffy's words telling him that Hope needs to know. Hope reminded Liam that she was a good listener. "My services are at the ready if you need me," Hope said.

"Come on, I always need you. You're my rock," Liam told Hope. He stumbled on his words, but could not bring himself to say he was dying. Instead, he asked to spend more time with Beth to give Hope a bit of a break. Hope had no problem with this, but was sure Liam had something more to say.

"Like, what's the real reason you're staying over at Steffy's?" Hope nervously asked. She questioned why Liam wasn't staying with Bill. Liam claimed he had mentioned his plumbing problems to Steffy first and she offered a place to stay, so Liam said yes. Even Finn was all for it.

"Anyway, I am not going to be staying there long. I am sure I'll be moving on soon," Liam said, alarming Hope. She asked if Liam was sure there wasn't something else he wanted to tell her. Liam still couldn't tell Hope the truth and finally left.

Once she was alone, Hope picked up her phone and began looking at old photos of her life with Liam. Carter called to interrupt her thoughts. "I intend to keep my promise. I won't rest until you and your line are back with this company...I refuse to give up on us, so don't you give up either," Carter begged.

Hope was left alone in her thoughts again when Steffy walked into the living room through one of the side doors. Hope was shocked to see her and grew concerned when Steffy said she wasn't there to talk about business. Hope became alarmed when Steffy began weeping.

Steffy told Hope she wanted to talk about Liam. "What about Liam?" Hope asked. "He's dying," Steffy said through tears.
