This week finally veered away from the chaos caused by Luna (Lisa Yamada), and the entire show was better for it. Despite some of the storylines being a bit distasteful, they're heading in the right direction by bringing powerhouses like Heather Tom and John McCook back to the front burner. One of the highlights of the week was Katie (Heather Tom) recognizing her worth and standing up to Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). With Brooke and Ridge having each other to fall back on in an argument, Katie was left facing off against both by herself, until Bill (Don Diamont) inserted himself on her behalf. Whether it was appropriate or not, it was nice to see him fight for her honor.

Bill is right. Katie deserves better, and thankfully, he has made that clear several times this week. Hopefully, she takes notice. Bringing in the outside PR firm was just one of many reasons why the Brooke and Ridge regime isn't the best place for her anymore. If Katie wants to feel like a valuable member of a corporate team, Spencer is absolutely the ideal destination for her career. Regardless of what Katie chooses for her future, seeing her actively call out Brooke for not having her back was enough to end an endless round of applause.

Quote of the Week - Katie, questioning Brooke's imaginary position of power, "Are you Co-CEO now? Has Steffy been pushed aside?"

Perhaps the best part of the week was Eric's (John McCook) defiance against Ridge and the rest of his family. The decision to push Eric out of the company he founded because of the perception that he's too old to get the job done is insulting on every front. Eric isn't going down without a fight, and while it was already a highlight to see his renewed passion for fashion and a desire to sketch again, he took things to the next level on Friday's all-new episode.

Ridge had the audacity not only to blindside her father with a surprise retirement party, but also to tell him, once Eric made it clear he wasn't accepting the idea, that it wasn't optional. As far as viewers know, Eric isn't dying. There's no secret health crisis taking control of his life. Eric also appears to have all of her mental faculties intact. What is stopping him from contributing to the design team on some level? The only obstacle left is Ridge's overinflated ego, and Eric's not putting up with it. Thankfully, he's not the only one who sees the gross nature of the outing either.

Daphne (Murielle Hilaire) deserves all of the praise for being the only person in the room calling out Ridge for his treatment of Eric. She wasn't wrong to ask why Eric should be forced to accept any of it. Eric is the founder of Forrester Creations, and thankfully, he's being written that way, and if he's going to go down, it won't be without the fight of his life. If Deke (Harrison Cone) can design for Hope For The Future with no prior experience, surely there is room for Eric to contribute in some capacity to the company he co-created.
