Days of Our Lives saw a major change when Billy Flynn became Chad DiMera in 2014, after Casey Deidrick. Chad was Stefano DiMera’s long-lost son, an outsider, who later became an important character and resident of Salem City. After portraying the character going through so much in life, Flynn has now exited the daily soap.

He became one of the fan-favorites of the daily soap for his character growth, which, while being a DiMera, he could experience. He added many layers to the character, which made Chad’s story intriguing. 10) Chad punches EJ (September 12, 2014)

Flynn came to Salem as Chad in 2014 with an explosive storyline. After coming back, he found out that his elder brother EJ was in a relationship with Abigail, which enraged him. He couldn't help himself and went on to punch his older brother.

As both the characters are fan favorites from Days of Our Lives for different reasons, the episode and the moment are regarded as one of the most dramatic moments between the two, making Flynn’s introduction memorable.

9) Chad lies to Abigail to protect her

Chad’s love and care for Abigail never receded when they were dating different people in Days of Our Lives. In 2015, when they began dating again after Ben, Chad suddenly backed out of the relationship, leaving a brokenhearted Abigail.

However, that was far from the actual truth, as Chad had to break up with Abigail to protect her from his father, Stefano’s nefarious schemes that could endanger Abigail’s life. He thinks Abigail might be safe if she stays away from the DiMera clan, including him.

8) He rescued Abigail and Thomas (2015)

After coming back to Salem, Chad found himself in many difficult situations, like being framed for being the Necktie killer in Days of Our Lives. While everyone almost believed he might be the killer, Abigail didn't. However, he is still arrested until Aiden attacks Hope and is thought to be the serial killer.

But he still couldn’t meet Abigail as she was locked up in a cabin in Mammoth Hills. Abigail still successfully conveys through a phone call to Chad that she is in danger. Not only does he rescue himself and Abigail from the fire Ben had trapped them in, but he also saves their son Thomas, whom Ben had taken with him.

7) Chad and Abigail get back together (2015-2016)

Chad and Abigail’s journey wasn’t a perfect and smooth-sailing one. Just like many other supercouples of daily soaps, they had to go through various ups and downs that shaped their relationship. While in relationships with other people, especially Abigail and Ben, they still reconnected.

Later, after Ben's truth of being the killer came to the fore, the family reunited, and Chad and Abigail got married for the first time in Days of Our Lives.

6) Chad helps his poisoned brother, Andre (January 2017)

Andre was one of the people who were proud of Chad in Days of Our Lives. He liked how Chad ran the DiMera business and tried to use more harmless ways. They had a warm relationship, and Andre always told Chad he was proud that he was his brother.

The care they shared for each other was seen during their fight against Deimos when he poisoned Andre, surprising the DiMeras. Chad helped his brother by calling the paramedics and went to the hospital with him. He even goes to Kiriakis’ mansion, knowing that it could be dangerous, to confront Deimos about his crimes. Not only that, Chad later also saves Abigail and Gabi from Deimos, as he had poisoned them as well.

5) He helped Abigail face the truth about killing Andre (2018)

Abigail’s DID storyline hugely impacted Chad and her love story when she began a relationship with Stefan, Stefano’s other son, who had just come to Salem. This almost made Chad kill Stefan by attacking him, but he was informed that Abigail’s alter personality, Gabi, is also responsible for killing Andre, for which Gabi is going to jail.

Chad helps Abigail remember what had happened the night Andre died and where she was by retracing her steps. She successfully remembers that she did kill Andre out of rage after she saw him firing Gabi from her job. He later convinced the DA not to press charges against Abigail, who was ready to face the consequences for what she had done.

4) Chad became the new Phoenix (June 2018)

After Andre died in early 2018 on Days of Our Lives, his wife Kate gave Chad the family heirloom, the Phoenix ring, which belonged to Stafano, to Chad to lead the DiMera business.

It was a monumental moment in Chad’s life, as after he arrived in Salem with nothing, he went on to become a part of the DiMera clan without being corrupted like them. He tried his best to incorporate better ways to maintain the business and position of the family.

3) Chad and Abigail go to Paris (February 19, 2019)

Abigail was back after her treatment and claimed that she was perfectly fine in Days of Our Lives. But Chad and her relationship couldn’t get over the shadow of Gabby and Stefan’s relationship. Moreover, she was also accused of attacking Gabi and Kate as Gabby. This brought more distance between the two as Chad forced her to be committed to the hospital, as her DID might have returned.

However, they overcame this difficulty as well when Chad found out that Abigail was telling the truth and it was Gabi who was trying to create a misunderstanding to take revenge for sending her to prison for Andre’s death. Chad also found out that Charlotte was his daughter, and Abigail and he remarried and relocated to Paris to live a better life away from Salem.

2) He destroyed Stefano’s microchip (2020)

Stefano had been long dead in Days of Our Lives, but his conscience was still alive with his essence stored in a microchip, which was put in Steve Johnson’s body and controlled his own son, Chad's mind, to force him to work for him. But it didn't go on for long as Abigail, Brady, John, and Anna DiMera showed up to defeat Stefano once and for all.

To do that, Chad and Tony destroyed the microchip, resulting in Stefano’s end, physically and his essence as well.

1) The emotional farewell between Chad and Stefano (2016)

Apart from Abigail and Chad, his relationship with his father, Stefano, might have seen the most changes in Days of Our Lives. After he died in 2016, Flynn gave one of his best performances when he was visited by the spirit of his father, whom he hadn’t said goodbye to before his death. He talked about how he came to be a part of the family, thanks to EJ’s children, who helped them a lot, and also that he missed his sister Lexi, who was the best among all of them.

He tells his father that after his death, he is confused about who he wants to be now and what kind of man he wants to be. Stefano tells his son that he has to learn to be the man he wants to become. The father-son duo hug before Stefano leaves forever. In 2020, Stefano reiterated that Chad was one of the best DiMeras and apologised for controlling his mind before the microchip was destroyed.

The 2016 performance of Billy Flynn is one of his best performances on Days of Our Lives, and it will stay with the fans of the daily soap for a long time.
