Days of our Lives' Cherie Jimenez celebrates one year as Gabi Hernandez

It's already been one full year since Days of our Lives' Cherie Jimenez burst onto the Salem scene and made Gabriella Hernandez her own. Played for more than a decade by Camila Banus, Gabi was a well-established character before Jimenez took over. Since then, she has won the hearts of fans and put her own spin on Gabi.

"One year as Gabriella Hernandez Dimera," Jimenez posted to Instagram on June 27th, along with a slide show of special Gabi moments. "To be part of the iconic legacy that is @dayspeacock has been a dream. Bringing this character to life has been the greatest gift. I truly LOVE playing Gabi. Thank you to everyone who has shown me love & support this past year. It means the world to me. Truly."

Multiple co-stars offered Jimenez good wishes and congratulated her on this milestone. "All we need is MORE," wrote Abigail Klein (Stephanie Johnson), while Al Calderon (Javi Hernandez) told Jimenez, "You are the sun and the moon." Greg Rikaart (Leo Stark) simply wrote, "Queen."

Daniel Feuerriegel (EJ DiMera) worked in a sly comment on how Gabi bedded two DiMera brothers over the last year.

"Gabi managed the infamous sibling slider with the dimeras," he said.

Gabi's busy, busy Days of our Lives year

Banus had already been off the Days of our Lives scene for more than six months when Jimenez took over. Gabi had just finished another jail stint after being falsely accused of killing Li Shin (Remington Hoffman). While the killer had not yet been found, Stefan was finally able to prove that his wife was innocent.

Gabi returned to the DiMera mansion ready to resume her marriage, but soon learned that Stefan (Brandon Barash) had a one-night stand with Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) while she had been behind bars. That led Gabi to seek revenge by sleeping with Stefan's brother, EJ, the man who railroaded her into jail with very little evidence.

By the time Li's killer, Connie Viniski (Julie Dove), had been found and placed in Bayview, Gabi had wanted to fix her marriage somehow and hesitated signing the divorce papers. Stefan was also ready to try again, but his mother, Vivian (Louise Sorel), kidnapped him before he got the chance. A heartbroken Gabi still has no idea what happened to Stefan, but she moved on with JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss).

Too bad that romance also didn't work out. Now, Gabi has more important things to worry about than men. Her daughter, Arianna (Marissa Reyes), is back in Salem and appears to be as wild as Gabi was at that age. How much trouble will Ari prove to be for her mother? Time will tell...
