Days of our Lives Daily YAPP Recap, August 4: Full circle with Sami Brady

Welcome to the Days of our Lives Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What happened on Days of our Lives

Sami Brady returned to Salem and Days of our Lives for one brief emotional day that had her and Marlena in tears — and us in tears as well. This year has clearly been one of growth for Samantha Gene Brady. When she was in town during the spring, she told Johnny that she had been in therapy and had learned so many things about herself that she had never accepted before. When Sami and Marlena cried over John's death in Marlena's living room on August 4th, Sami admitted that she was wrong to blame John for all that had gone wrong in her life through the years. She acknowledged how John was her dad during his RoJohn era, but she later resented him for taking the real Roman's place in Marlena's life. The Sami we saw now and the Sami we saw back in the spring is a much more mature Sami than we've ever seen before. Even just a few short years ago, Sami and John were at odds after Marlena was shot at her own wedding, with Sami bringing up John and Marlena's long-ago affair when she was still married to Roman. Seeing John's death help Sami put it all in perspective made us wish this could have happened before John died, but we are grateful that DAYS chose to give Alison Sweeney this tender goodbye via flashbacks and pics that brought tears to our eyes.
