Welcome to the Days of our Lives Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What happened on Days of our Lives
This is the second year in a row that Melinda Trask has been involved with an "adoption" story gone wrong. From 2023 to 2024, Melinda was consumed with making sure Sloan Petersen could hold onto Eric by passing off his own son, with Nicole as a baby they had adopted. She was willing to risk her law license and her freedom to do this for a woman she barely even knew. Now, she is doing the same for Sophia, a teenager she barely knows. While we understand Melinda's initial inclination to take Sophia on as a client stemmed from her own experience as a pregnant teenager with strict Asian parents who wanted to keep the baby in the family, as Amy Choi had wanted, it doesn't explain her motivation and new obsession with lying for Sophia. Melinda is once again risking it all to keep a baby's identity a secret, and we don't understand why. This seems to now be Melinda's only purpose in Salem. When Sophia told her that she confessed the truth to a very curious Sarah, Melinda nearly had a coronary that Sophia's baby wouldn't remain hidden in plain sight. That's what prompted us to ask why the heck Melinda is doing this again after things backfired on her so spectacularly the last time. Is she a glutton for punishment or does Days of our Lives truly not know what to do with this character?
