Welcome to the Days of our Lives Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What happened on Days of our Lives

Doug III came, Doug III went, and now we don't know if we will ever see him again. That's what makes us wonder what the point of this character was. He was honestly pretty likable in a hapless sort of way, despite his penchant for getting into trouble. We saw potential with Doug and Holly, as well as with Doug and Ari, but now he is gone like the wind after giving Julie her necklace back. We were glad to see Doug's grandson and Julie part on good terms after she gave him a pocket watch that had belonged to her husband, but why was this character even introduced last December if Days of our Lives had planned to do nothing with him? While we know he was created by another head writing team, was there a reason that the new writers chose to do nothing with a character who came from the show's history and had ties to its beloved matriarch? DAYS could have created a true triangle between Holly, Tate, and Doug, as well as between Holly, Ari, and Doug, but instead, it got fans invested only to pull the plug on the character for no real reason. Julie may have invited him to return to Salem one day, but what was the reason for this departure when the character was just getting started?
