Days of our Lives Daily YAPP Recap, October 16: Two different Salems or one?

Welcome to Days of our Lives Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What happened on Days of our Lives

Sometimes it feels like we're watching two different soap operas in two different towns where storylines and characters don't mix. Days of our Lives can leave us hanging on a story for one, two, or more episodes until we ever hear about it again. We just move on to other stories that seem to have nothing to do with the other. This week, Tate learned he wasn't the father of Sophia's baby, and Aaron learned that he might be. None of these characters were on Thursday's episode, but the story still existed! A miracle! DAYS acknowledged that Cat and Rafe would be affected by this news, as Cat may be Tesoro's aunt if Aaron is indeed the father. Rafe also broke the news to a shocked Roman. Leo's visit to EJ's office also reminded us that DAYS is one soap and these characters don't exist in episode bubbles. Out of nowhere, Leo brought up EJ's shooting and stopped EJ in his tracks. That's when we remembered that Leo was the jury foreman at Johnny's trial and knows a lot more about the case than most. That was continuity right there, something we don't often see on soaps, and especially this soap. We'll get back to the Sophia baby story tomorrow, but it was nice to see town's reaction to the baby daddy reveal today. It actually felt like we were watching a real soap opera.
