Days of our Lives Daily YAPP Recap, September 18: Where the heck did Kate and Anna come from?

Welcome to Days of our Lives Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What happened on Days of our Lives

Sometimes it feels like playing a game of one of these things is not like the other in soaps, and that happened today on Days of our Lives. Most episodes focus on one A story with adjacent B stories, featuring characters that all have at least something to do with the A story. Today, we feel like DAYS had taped scenes with Kate and Anna and randomly decided to insert them in the episode, as they certainly didn't belong there. All other stories had something to do with Tesoro. From Tate trying to get information about Sophia and Holly lamenting to Ari about her fight with Tate to Chanel running into Javi and Leo to Javi and Leo's adoption discussion, it was a Tesoro-focused show — with Anna and Kate randomly talking about Victor's forged letter in the middle of the DiMera living room. We hadn't even seen Anna for months and had no idea she was even in town, but then there she was, thumbing through a magazine, when Kate came storming in to discuss Tony's lawsuit. Did DAYS run out of time in yesterday's episode, whose focal point was the Titan-DiMera merger and decide to tack these scenes onto today's episode, making them seem out of place while leaving the audience feeling discombobulated? While Kate and Anna are certainly enjoyable, they didn't belong on today's episode.
