Here is your weekly recap for Days of our Lives for the episodes that aired July 28th through August 1st, 2025, when Johnny's trial started, Susan felt the spirit of Stefano, Xander and Sarah acted civil, and Stephanie worried about an ex.
What happened on Days of our Lives

Bookstore owner Foster broke up a loud argument between Julie and Gwen in the square. Julie got caught up with her old friend Foster, and she learned that he was selling his bookstore to join his family in another state. Julie purchased two books on grief for Marlena. Tony talked to Gwen about Stefan and Dimitri’s disappearance. Gwen was dismissive of Tony’s concern.
Marlena told Kayla that she was looking for a second opinion from a fellow psychiatrist about her medical condition. Marlena said she was concerned about her soul. Marlena confided in Kayla about her Queen of the Night dreams. After Marlena met with a psychiatrist, she told Kayla that it had not helped.
Gabi hired Steve to investigate Xander and Philip. Steve discovered that Alex had been arrested when he was younger. Concerned, Steve told Kayla that it reminded him of Stephanie’s abusive ex, Jeremy Horton. Steve told Kayla about how Doug III had stolen back Julie’s necklace. Kayla told Steve about EJ’s drastic cuts at the hospital and Marlena’s exhaustion.
Philip told Kate that he had figured out that Stephanie was Anastasia Sands because of some of the encounters described in her novel. Kate asked Philip not to tell Stephanie. Kate argued that she intended to protect Stephanie’s identity and PR business. Philip warned Kate that other ex-boyfriends could also figure out that Stephanie had written the book.
When Alex showed Stephanie the galley for her book, she was upset to see the blurb she had asked him to remove had been included to promote the book. The fix was expensive, so Stephanie agreed to let it go. Stephanie confessed that the passage in question was about an ex, but she did not elaborate. Alex asked Stephanie about her next book, and she said she had an idea for a murder mystery.
Johnny’s trial began, and Belle called forward Chad, Jada, and Roman as witnesses. EJ forced Jada and Roman to admit on the stand that they had motives to shoot EJ. EJ yelled at Belle for her forceful prosecution, but she reminded EJ that it was her job.
Susan yelled at EJ for having believed that Johnny or Chanel could have been the shooter. Susan warned EJ not to go too far to provide a reasonable doubt for Johnny. Susan told EJ that she was training to be a medium. When Susan practiced using her gift, she said she felt the presence of Stefano in the house. EJ was unnerved enough by Susan’s proclamation that he asked Rita if Stefano could be alive. Rita said no.
Tate admitted to Holly that he was disappointed that his child would not be raised in Salem. Holly told Tate that she had decided to stay in Salem for school instead of going to Paris.
Sofia struggled with the guilt of having lied to Tate about their baby. A furious Amy took her anger out on Sofia. Sofia reminded Amy about how difficult it had been for her, and Amy apologized. When Sofia had a fever, Amy forced Sofia to go to the hospital. Sarah told Sofia that she knew she had been pregnant with a boy, and she warned Sofia to tell her that the baby was safe, or she would have to report her to the police. Sofia told Sarah the whole story. Sarah covered for Sofia with Amy.
Sarah told Maggie about her legal separation from Xander. Xander stopped by the hospital to hand over Victoria early to Sarah, and she questioned his motives. Offended, Xander started to leave. Sarah apologized. Sarah and Xander admitted that they still loved one another. Despite that, they agreed to sign the separation agreement. Sarah ran into Brady on the way home, and she talked about the new developments with Xander. When they shared a hug, Xander saw them.
Cat and Rafe ran into one another in the square, and they played off their connection when Chad saw them. Cat and Rafe met up after to discuss Stefano and the possibility that he could be alive. Rafe asked Cat to keep digging for information. On Cat’s way out of the hospital, she and Chad got stuck in an elevator together. The two bonded over a game of “Never Have I Ever.” Chad mentioned Susan’s prediction about Stefano, but Chad told Cat he did not believe his father was alive.
Marlena talked to Rachel about the importance of telling the truth in court. Rachel confided in her fear that her testimony would send Johnny to prison or that it would hurt Rachel Blake. Marlena advised Rachel that the best way to help everyone was to tell the truth and leave the rest to the adults to handle. Sami called to tell Marlena that she was on her way to Salem to support Johnny.
