“What is she talking about?” Belle asked when she ran into Susan, Marlena, and EJ at The Brady Pub. Susan told Belle that Marlena had passed out during the blackout. Marlena stressed that she had been cleared by a doctor and was fine. Marlena announced that she needed to meet someone for therapy. “I thought we were having lunch,” Belle said. Marlena promised to reschedule.

As Marlena walked out, Belle yelled after her, “You cannot run away from this!” Susan lamented that she had spilled Marlena’s secret, but Belle told Susan she was grateful for Susan’s friendship. EJ invited Belle to join them, but Belle declined.

EJ and Susan sat down for lunch together. EJ noticed that Johnny had texted Susan, and he pushed for details. “If my grandbaby boy wanted your help, he would ask himself,” Susan argued. Susan reminded EJ that he had ruined his relationship with Johnny. “I admit, I went a bit too far,” EJ said. Susan counseled EJ to be patient.

While walking through the park with Sarah and Victoria, Xander confirmed that the family had reached an agreement with Tony. Xander noted that Titan would struggle to survive the separation from DiMera Enterprises. Sarah argued that Titan would survive, just like it had in the past.

“But not without sacrifice. Philip and your mum, and I, we’ve agreed to contribute our personal assets in an effort to save the company. But if something goes wrong, we could lose everything,” Xander said. Sarah admitted that she had already talked to Maggie, and she supported the decision. “I have complete faith in you and my mom,” Sarah said. Xander apologized for not having consulted Sarah first, but she assured him that he did not need to run business decisions past her.

“[Victoria] doesn’t need to be the heir to some massive fortune. I am more than capable of providing for her future,” Sarah said. Xander agreed. After a moment, Xander told Sarah that he was also willing to sacrifice to save their marriage. “There is nothing I want more than to rebuild our marriage. And I’m so proud of you,” Sarah said.

Theo was walking through the town square when Tony called to tell him that DiMera Enterprises was back in the hands of the family. Theo accepted Tony’s job offer. Abe heard the tail end of the conversation as he approached. Theo confirmed that he had accepted a job at DiMera Enterprises. “You most certainly will not [work at DiMera],” Abe stressed. Theo explained that Tony had regained control of the company.

“Uncle Tony is putting together a leadership team to take the company in a new direction. He wants to do good things with DiMera Enterprises. And he wants me to help lead the way,” Theo said. Abe argued that Theo was being naive. Theo countered that Chad and Tony were better people than EJ and Kristen. “That bar is really low,” Abe said. Theo reminded Abe that he was an adult who could make his own decisions.

After Theo stormed off, Belle walked over. “Is something wrong?” Belle asked. Abe told Belle about Theo’s decision. Abe noted that he and Lexie had agreed to keep Theo away from DiMera Enterprises. “And now I just feel like I’m failing her,” Abe admitted. Belle assured Abe that he had done a wonderful job raising Theo. Abe worried aloud about how people took advantage of Theo’s trusting nature. Belle apologized for how Claire had broken Theo’s heart.

“Claire is an adult, and you are not responsible for your daughter’s actions, just like I’m not responsible for my son’s,” Abe said. Belle shrugged. Abe confessed that he had hoped that Theo and Claire would reconcile because he had wanted to be a family with John. “My dad would have loved that. I would too,” Belle said. Abe lamented that the break-up had led to Theo’s union with Tony. Belle told Abe that she believed that Theo was smart enough to act in his own best interest.

In the DiMera living room, Tony chuckled to himself. “Someone is in a good mood,” Gabi said as she walked in. Gabi asked about the lawsuit, and Tony confirmed that the Kiriakis family had agreed to return DiMera Enterprises. “What about Titan?” Gabi asked. Tony said that the Kiriakis family had refused to hand over Titan. Gabi asked when they would announce that she was the CEO.

“Why would I tell them that when that’s never going to happen?” Tony said. Gabi reminded Tony of their contract. Tony directed Gabi’s attention to the morality clause of the contract. “I did not violate any morals clause,” Gabi protested. Tony refused to let Gabi run the family business after she had admitted on the witness stand of her intent to shoot EJ. When Gabi argued that she had played a pivotal role in regaining control of DiMera, Tony thanked her for her help.

“But you’re not family, no matter how many of my brothers you’ve bedded,” Tony said. Gabi vowed to sue Tony, but Tony pointed out that it would come out in court that Gabi had committed corporate espionage. Furious, Gabi argued that she had committed that felony to help Tony. Tony countered that Gabi had acted to help herself, not to help him. Tony added that he wanted to offer Gabi a consolation prize.

“Walk away from DiMera gracefully, and you can take Gabi Chic along with you,” Tony said. Gabi was stunned. “Tempting offer,” Gabi said. Gabi asked Tony if he was the new CEO. Theo walked in. “Why don’t you offer your well wishes to the next CEO of DiMera Enterprises,” Tony said. “This was your plan all along. String me along,” Gabi said. Theo asked Tony if he had previously offered the CEO job to Gabi.

“We had a contract,” Gabi confirmed. “Circumstances caused me to reconsider,” Tony said. When Gabi argued that Tony was not serious, Theo asked Gabi if she was referring to the fact that he was autistic. “I didn’t say that,” Gabi said. Theo listed neurodivergent CEOs. “What about experience?” Gabi asked. Tony argued that Theo had run his own company, and that he would serve as Theo's mentor.

“So do you want Gabi Chic back or not? Because that is my best and final offer,” Tony said. “I’ll take it,” Gabi said. Tony walked out. Gabi apologized for having insulted Theo. Theo apologized for having blindsided Gabi. “I had no idea that [Tony] offered you the job,” Theo said. Gabi smirked. “I thought Tony was the only DiMera with a modicum of integrity. Obviously, I was wrong,” Gabi said. Gabi asked Theo if he could trust Tony. Theo said he would be fine.

In the foyer, Tony checked his luggage. EJ walked down the stairs, and he said he was surprised that Tony had not canceled his cruise with Anna. “The trip will be a working one,” Tony said. Tony added that he did not need to be on site, because Theo was the new CEO.

At the penthouse, Xander and Sarah met up with Marlena for their first couples therapy session. “How are you feeling?” Sarah asked. Marlena said she felt fine, and that she knew that Tate was not the father of Sophia’s baby. When Marlena noted that it was difficult to believe that Sophia would keep such a huge secret, a guilty Xander said, “Yes. Hard to believe.” Sarah admitted that she had been in Sophia’s shoes once.

“For what it’s worth, she did seem genuinely shocked that Tate wasn’t the father. And I am in no position to throw stones,” Sarah said. “Nor am I. But I think we all understand that when you keep a secret like that, the truth does tend to come out,” Marlena said. Xander averted his eyes. Marlena asked the couple to say something they loved about one another.

Sarah explained that Xander showed through his actions how much he loved her and Victoria. “Even in his mistakes,” Sarah said. “I love the way Sarah manages to love me for who I really am,” Xander said. Xander admitted that Sarah’s love inspired him to be a better man. “When I let it. And it makes me feel so hopeful and so very grateful,” Xander said.

Marlena asked them what they felt they needed to work on in their marriage. In unison, Xander and Sarah said, “Trust.” “Tell me what broke that trust,” Marlena said. Sarah said she had believed the worst about Xander, and she had lied to him about Philip.

“Why didn’t you tell him the truth?” Marlena asked. “I was scared that he would react violently,” Sarah admitted. Xander admitted that he had given Sarah reason to believe he would react that way. Xander confessed that he had intended to harm Brady when he had believed Brady had been responsible for Sarah’s car accident. Sarah confirmed that she had known about the incident.

“Does Brady know?” Marlena asked. “He knows. But I felt that I owed you the truth. And look, I understand if this means that you no longer want to counsel me,” Xander said. After a moment, Marlena said she stood by her vow not to give up on Xander. “And I’m not, as long as you don’t give up on yourself,” Marlena said. Xander refused to give up. Marlena encouraged Xander and Sarah to continue to be honest with one another. “The truth will set you free,” Marlena said.
