What happened on Days of our Lives

As Tate kissed Holly in her dorm, Amy knocked on the door. “I’m looking for Sophia,” Amy said., “So are we,” Tate said. Tate explained that Sophia had called into work, and Amy confirmed that Sophia had been out all night. Amy noted that all calls to Sophia’s phone went to voicemail. Tate and Holly exchanged a look.
“There’s something you’re not telling me,” Amy said. Holly suggested that Sophia had run away. “Why?” Amy asked. Tate and Holly told Amy that Tate was not the father Sophia’s baby. After Holly told Amy about Sophia’s other schemes to hurt Johnny, Amy asked why she should believe Holly and Tate over her own daughter. When Tate offered to help, Amy growled, “You have done more than enough. You both have.” Amy told Tate and Holly to stay away from her and Sophia.
Steve and Kayla spent their day off together at the cafe in the town square. Steve admitted that he needed help at Black Patch. Steve suggested that Kayla should join his agency. “You have got to be joking,” Kayla said. Steve argued that Kayla had been a great partner to him through the years, and he wanted Kayla out from under EJ’s thumb.
“Even if it’s not Black Patch, maybe it’s time for you to consider a career change in general,” Steve said. Kayla admitted that she had considered resigning, but that she wanted to protect the hospital and watch EJ. “Do you still think he’s up to no good?” Steve asked. Kayla said yes. Steve asked about the the blackout. Kayla admitted that EJ was reluctant to discuss anything about the blackout.
Alex kissed Stephanie good morning in their living room, and he asked her about her restless night of sleep. Stephanie admitted that she had been thinking about Leo’s threat to print the story that she was Anastasia Sands. “Too many people know [my identity] already,” Stephanie said. “Are you sure that Jeremy Horton is Leo’s hot tip?” Alex asked. Stephanie argued that it was an odd coincidence for Leo to have received the tip after Jeremy returned to town. Alex admitted that he had confronted Jeremy in the pub.
“He wasn’t acting like he just screwed you over,” Alex said. “That means nothing coming from Jeremy. He is a predator and a charming one, which makes him all the more dangerous,” Stephanie countered. Stephanie argued that she needed to get ahead of Leo’s story. “It’s better coming from me than the artist formerly known as Lady Whistleblower,” Stephanie said. Alex asked Stephanie if she was sure, and Stephanie said yes.
“Titan Publishing is keeping your family business afloat. If this isn’t spun right, it could do some serious damage to the whole company,” Stephanie said. Stephanie added that if she was going to reveal her identity, she wanted to handle how it was done. With a smirk, Stephanie suggested that the news might cause a bump in sales.
Alex and Stephanie were discussing strategy for the reveal, when Kayla stopped by with a housewarming plant. After Stephanie told Kayla about Leo’s threat to expose her, she said she believed Jeremy had been the source. “So he’s causing trouble for you already,” Kayla muttered. Stephanie said she planned to reveal her identity as Anastasia Sands.
In the Titan CEO offices, Philip complained to Gabi about the appointment of Theo as CEO of DiMera Enterprises. “I didn’t see that coming,” Philip said. “Trust me, neither did I,” Gabi said. Philip said he wished Theo well in the job. “Seems pretty short sighted keeping it in the family,” Philip said. Gabi laughed, and she reminded Philip that he was part of the Kiriakis family.
“My point still stands. Tony was an idiot not to put you in charge of DiMera,” Philip said. Philip added that he was sorry to see Gabi go. “Good luck working with the enemy,” Philip said. Gabi explained that she was not going to work with DiMera. “Tony gave me Gabi Chic, free and clear. I’m sole owner of my company again,” Gabi said. Philip congratulated Gabi, and he asked her why Tony would make that decision. “I negotiated with him,” Gabi said. Philip asked about Gabi’s leverage. Gabi lied and said she used her history with Stefan and Anna’s role as a designer to her advantage.
“Who cares what the why is? You got what you wanted,” Philip said. Philip asked Gabi if he could persuade her to keep Gabi Chic with Titan. Gabi noted that she wanted to run it on her own. “But I am a businesswoman. So if you want to make me an offer I can’t refuse,” Gabi said. Philip admitted that Titan was not in a position to make a large cash offer.
“You cut us a good deal now, I’ll make it worth it,” Philip said. Gabi reminded Philip that she had repeatedly asked to separate her company from Titan and DiMera. “Then you said you came around to working here because we were, oh so very nice to you. Were you just stroking our egos?” Philip asked. “I meant every word. You were all really great to work with,” Gabi said. With a seductive smile, Gabi said she thought that Philip would be happy that he was no longer her boss. Philip and Gabi stepped closer to one another. “And that means that there’s nothing stopping us from doing this,” Gabi said. Gabi pulled Philip in for a kiss. The two went to the Salem Inn and had sex.
Brady approached Johnny in the pub, and they confirmed that neither had heard from Sophia. Brady asked about Tesoro’s adoption. Johnny explained that social services had agreed to reassess his case in light of the information about Sophia’s possible sabotage.
“As long as we’re able to prove that it was a setup, which all hinges on Sophia coming forward and admitting what she did,” Johnny said. Johnny and Brady agreed that they were surprised that Sophia had been capable of such complex schemes. “She’s a young girl. She got caught in a tight spot and she panicked,” Brady said. Brady said he hoped that for everyone’s sake that Sophia would come clean.
When talk turned to the Titan-DiMera split, Brady told Johnny that he would miss working with him. “What makes you think Uncle Tony gets me in the divorce?” Johnny asked. Brady said he had assumed that Johnny would want to work with Theo. Johnny said he appreciated that Brady and Xander had supported him during the trial. “Now I’d like to return the favor,” Johnny said. Johnny joked that Xander might see him as the enemy within. Brady assured Johnny that he was valued by everyone at Titan. After Johnny left, Brady called Steve.
Tate and Holly met up with Johnny at the cafe in the square to discuss their projects for class. “I also want to apologize if my actions in any way contributed to you feeling like you needed to leave [school],” Johnny said. “No, Sophia had everyone fooled. I don’t blame you,” Holly said. Johnny confirmed that the photos had been deleted.
When Johnny asked Tate and Holly if they had heard from Sophia, Tate explained that they believed that Sophia had run away. Johnny said he hoped Sophia was okay, but that if she did not confirm that she had made everything up, he and Chanel could lose their chance to adopt Tesoro. Johnny changed the subject back to the documentary short project for school, and Tate and Holly announced they would cover the hospital gala.
Amy rushed in to the Brady Pub, anxious to speak to Roman. “I think that he’s the last person who spoke to my daughter. She didn’t come home last night,” Amy said. Brady said he knew, and he had spoken to Roman. Brady confirmed that Sophia had told Roman that she had felt ill and would not be in to work. “Where could she be?” Amy said. In an effort to calm Amy, Brady guided her into a chair and asked how he could help.
“Like you care!” Amy yelled. Amy said that Tate had claimed not to be the father of Sophia’s baby. “I know my daughter doesn’t sleep around,” Amy said. “No one is suggesting that your daughter sleeps around, but Tate was telling the truth,” Brady confirmed. Brady told Amy about the DNA test. Brady suggested they focus on the search. Amy confirmed that her husband was at the police station to file a report. Brady informed Amy that he had contacted his private investigator friend, Steve, to track down Sophia.
“Why are you doing this for me? For Sophia?” Amy asked. “Cause I know what it’s like to have a kid go missing. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone,” Brady said. Steve walked in, and Brady introduced him to Amy. Steve confirmed that the police were checking CCTV footage around town. Amy confirmed that Sophia did not have a car, and that she would not hitchhike.
“That could work in our favor. There aren’t many ways that she can go far undetected,” Steve said. Steve confirmed that he had checked with Ari, and Ari had said that Sophia did not have a fake ID. Amy confirmed that Sophia had run away at the age of six, but he been hiding in the house.
As Amy exited the pub, she saw Johnny standing out front looking at his phone. Amy slapped Johnny. Inside the pub, Steve received news that Sophia’s phone had last been turned on at midnight in the pub.
