Days of our Lives Recap, October 2: Brady's suspicions rise as Sophia tells more lies

What to expect on Days of our Lives

Brady was shocked when Kayla told him that Tate and Tesoro were not a DNA match. He wondered if there could have been a mistake, but Kayla assured him the results were correct.

"I was so sure that it was Tate's child. Guess it's back to square one," Brady said.

Kayla suggested that Sophia could be telling the truth about her Chicago birth, but Brady didn't buy it. Sophia was still acting so strangely that he knew she had to be hiding something. Kayla tried to defend Sophia, saying that she was just trying to put the entire experience behind her.

Brady said he was thinking about John and not knowing his own father till later in life. He didn't want the same for Tate and his child. Brady wished that John were there so he could give him some advice.

Kayla offered to help Brady, so he once again began questioning why Sophia may have lied about the baby's sex to see if Kayla had an explanation. "We may never know what Sophia was thinking," Kayla said, before Maggie arrived to see how Holly was doing.

Holly assured Maggie that Holly would be fine and informed Maggie that Brady carried Holly to safety. Maggie wondered why Holly couldn't leave on her own. Brady explained that Holly was passed out drunk. Maggie was horrified that Holly had drunk so much.

Tate visited with Holly in her hospital room after she was brought in for smoke inhalation. He begged her to forgive him and move past his relationship with Sophia. Holly pointed out that she wasn't the one who couldn't stay away from Sophia.

Tate apologized for how he had been acting before telling Holly how much he loved her. "You sure have a fine way of showing it," Holly said.

Tate explained that he was just trying to trick Sophia into telling him the truth about the baby. He did not have romantic feelings for her. Holly didn't care and was still angry with Tate. "I can't do it anymore. I can't be a part of this love triangle or whatever it is," Holly said, before asking Tate to leave.

Maggie arrived, so Tate reluctantly exited the room. Once alone, Holly apologized to Maggie for drinking so much. "I knocked a candle over and caused a fire...and in between the blackout and losing my assignment...and Tate cheated on me," Holly choked out while sobbing.

Holly explained that Ari saw Sophia leaving Tate's room. She also apologized for getting drunk and possibly ruining her college career. "I thought you had learned this lesson in the hardest way possible. Alcohol and drugs and breaking rules, that's never the answer," Maggie said. She understood Holly was hurting, but stressed to her that she put everyone in danger, thanks to the fire in her room.

When Kayla arrived to discharge Holly, she told her that her alcohol levels were very high. Holly wondered how, since she only had two mixed drinks. Kayla wondered how strong the alcohol was, but Holly didn't know. Maggie wanted to take Holly back to the mansion, but Holly wanted to go right back to the dorms — and find her phone.

Johnny swore up and down that Holly was nothing but his student, but Chanel was too distraught to listen to reason, crying that Johnny had shattered her dreams. Johnny insisted he was being set up, but Chanel was still furious and wondered why the baby's birth mother would have a problem with them. She was sure that it had to be Johnny's fault.

Johnny remained perplexed. "I wish I had an explanation. It kills me to think that I might be the reason we can't adopt this baby, especially after everything that happened last time," Johnny said, vowing to fix things. Chanel was afraid it was too late. She was sure they'd never be able to adopt any baby now.

Johnny tried to be reassuring and insisted that he'd get to the bottom of everything and clear things up with the social worker. "It's our dream to have a family, and I won't let anyone get in the way of that," Johnny promised. Chanel finally realized that Johnny was telling her the truth.

When Sophia learned that Holly was in the hospital, she realized that it would have made no sense for her to send those pictures to Johnny. She also couldn't innocently return Holly's phone. She quickly turned the location services off and reset the phone to factory settings.

Ari appeared, so the girls started talking just as Johnny called Holly's phone. Sophia ignored the phone in her back pocket as Ari wondered why she wasn't answering it. Johnny left a voicemail message telling Holly he needed to speak with her immediately.

Johnny then went to search for Holly himself, but ran into Tate and Brady in Horton Town Square while on his way. He asked them if they had seen Holly, so they told him that she was in the hospital and why. Tate and Brady also thought it was odd that Johnny was in such a rush to find Holly over an assignment.

After Tate left to go to work, Brady asked Johnny what was really going on. Johnny told Brady about the photo from Holly and the letter from Tesoro's birth mother, which left Brady completely confused. Johnny was also confused, as barely anybody knew he and Chanel wanted to adopt Tesoro.

When Brady was alone in the square, Kayla approached him. Brady told her the story that Johnny told him. With Holly involved and someone clearly being angry with Johnny and Chanel, Brady was sure Sophia was involved. He once again asked Kayla if the DNA test could be wrong. Kayla was sure it was correct, but she agreed to have the lab re-run the test.

Back home, Chanel opened the door to Paulina bearing baby gifts. Chanel quickly burst into tears, confusing Paulina. Chanel told her mom what happened, but defended Johnny. She believed he never did anything inappropriate with Holly. When Johnny returned, Paulina and Chanel were surprised to hear that Holly was in the hospital.

Over at The Brady Pub, Tate spotted Sophia outside trying to dump Holly's phone in the trash. He didn't see her actually do it, but did ask her what was going on. Sophia made an excuse as usual, and Tate bought it, as usual.

Back at the dorms, Maggie and Holly arrived, only for Ari to tell them that they were being evicted. Holly felt it was all her fault, but was relieved to hear they were only moving to another room. However, they would have to appear before a disciplinary committee. Ari was surprised that Holly didn't see the email on her phone. She also told Holly her phone wasn't in their room. Holly looked and didn't find her phone.
