On Days of our Lives today, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, JJ makes his choice, Abe has a rocky first meeting, and Horton Town Square is the site for a festive Halloween and a book launch.
What Happened on Days of our Lives

At the Brady Pub, Abe, Kayla, and Steve chatted over a meal. Roman came up to their table and asked about their food, since he’d hired a new cook. After the group gave the meals their seals of approval, Roman offered his congrats to Abe on Theo’s appointment as CEO of DiMera Enterprises. Abe’s friends noticed his less-than-enthusiastic reaction, so Kayla tried to get Abe to look on the bright side: Theo could excel in the role and make a real difference. When Kayla joked that she sounded “Pollyannaish,” Abe corrected that she sounded “Paulinaish.”
Later, in Horton Town Square, Theo met with JJ, at the cop's request. JJ informed Theo he’d made a decision about staying on the police force. Before JJ could give Theo his answer, though, Abe interrupted the conversation. Theo told JJ they’d talk about it later, so JJ went on his way. When Abe inquired about the nature of the discussion, Theo said he’d had a “disagreement” on JJ rejoining the force.
Abe believed it was ultimately JJ’s decision to make, which prompted Theo to call his dad out on the double standard Abe held for Theo when it came to making decisions. Abe claimed Theo’s situation was different. After Theo made reference to an "incident" with JJ, Abe grew concerned and wanted clarification. Theo filled Abe in on the encounter during the blackout and how it had brought back his feelings about the shooting. Abe wondered why Theo hadn’t told him sooner, and Theo defended that he was protecting his dad from reliving the trauma, too.
Theo said he’d concurred with Abe’s assessment that it was JJ’s decision to make. He also admitted that Abe hadn’t been an easy confidante lately, but he didn’t want to revisit the discussion about DiMera. When Theo disclosed he had talked about the incident with Jada – and Paulina – Abe gave a look of disapproval. Theo urged his dad not be mad at Paulina again. Abe didn’t respond on that front and claimed he had to get to his tutoring appointment, then abruptly left.
At Book Club, Julie showed Jeremy around the store and told him about the preparations she’d made for the grand re-opening. Things got tense when Jeremy spotted Stephanie approaching. Julie, seemingly oblivious to the tension, began gushing about the new book launch for “Anastasia Sands” and the big surprise that was in store. When Julie got to the “surprise” part, Stephanie glared at Jeremy and replied, “To some more than others.” Jeremy tried to redirect the conversation to the “pumpkin chucking” contest he’d set up for his students, and he used the event as an excuse to make a hasty retreat.
Julie, who finally seemed to catch on to the charged atmosphere, asked Stephanie if something had happened between Jeremy and her. Stephanie didn’t divulge any details but only said that her relationship with him had ended badly, so she wanted to “steer clear.”
Later, Abe arrived at the bookstore for his meeting with Liam. Julie said the young man hadn’t shown up yet. On cue, a young man appeared in the doorway and cautiously approached. Julie and Abe introduced themselves, but the Days of our Lives newcomer – Liam – was standoffish. After Julie left to continue preparations, Abe said he wanted to set “ground rules” for the sessions.
Namely, Liam should show up on time, and he should commit to making an effort. A fidgety Liam gave only vague, indifferent responses. When the men settled down for the session, Liam quickly got frustrated as he stumbled over a word. He pushed the book aside, said he wasn’t “vibing” with it, and asked Abe if they could just get coffee. Abe sternly reminded his mentee that the meeting was about improving Liam’s reading proficiency -- and was a condition of Liam’s probation.
Liam claimed he could read “just fine,” told Abe he’d find another tutor, and got up to leave. Abe stopped him cold by stating that he’d be making a call to the district attorney if Liam left. After a pause, Liam returned to the table and opened his book. Abe smiled at Julie, who had observed the interaction and given Abe a thumbs-up.
At the police station, Jada updated Paulina on law enforcement preparations for Halloween. Paulina worried people were still on-edge after the blackout and the subsequent break-ins at Horton Town Square businesses. Jada assured the mayor she’d be keeping a close eye on the “Horton Town Scare” because she’d be attending the event with a “friend.” Paulina perked up at the mention of “friend,” and Jada explained she was going on a date with someone she hadn’t met yet.
Before Jada could provide any details about her date, JJ entered the office and announced he’d made a decision: he was ready to rejoin the force. Both Jada and Paulina were pleased by the news, but Paulina expressed concern about how Theo would take it. JJ pledged he would talk about it with his friend, and he added that he would continue his therapy and his “anti-bias” training.
Later, Theo saw Paulina outside the pub. He reluctantly updated her on his latest encounter with his dad. Theo forewarned his stepmother that Abe seemed angry she’d known about the situation with JJ before him, just as he had gotten mad about Paulina’s advice to Theo regarding the job offer. Paulina, a bit uncertainly, affirmed that her and Abe’s marriage was “strong enough” to survive a few disagreements.
Paulina asked how Theo was settling in at DiMera. Theo said his uncle had been helping him get adjusted…until Tony had suddenly disappeared. He briefly recapped Anna’s panicked phone call and assured Paulina that Tony was fine. Theo also thanked Paulina for her encouragement and support. Paulina commended Theo’s “virtue” and “integrity,” and she had no doubts he would put those qualities into full effect during his new job.
Back in Horton Town Square, JJ bumped into Jeremy as the teacher hauled his pumpkin launcher. Jeremy indicated the event would be a welcome distraction from something in his past “that keeps coming back to bite me.” JJ could relate to the sentiment. Jeremy expressed frustration at not being able to find the proper words to make things right. JJ suggested that through his own experience, he’d learned that actions spoke louder.
Back at the pub, Kayla nearly let it slip to Roman that Stephanie was “Anastasia Sands.” Roman said Kate had shown him parts of the first novel, especially the more explicit parts. Steve grew uncomfortable and, after Roman stepped away, voiced his concerns about Stephanie writing the book and revealing herself as the author. Kayla stressed she was proud of their daughter, and Steve agreed.
Steve and Kayla also agreed that Stephanie’s biggest problem was Jeremy. Kayla wished the “creepy guy” out of town for good. Steve revealed his background check on Jeremy had come back clean, with no obvious “red flags.” While neither Steve nor Kayla knew the exact details of how things had gone wrong with Stephanie and Jeremy, they surmised the events must have been “serious” because of Stephanie’s reaction to her ex.
Later, Steve and Kayla approached Stephanie as she set up an advertisement for the book launch in Horton Town Square. The new novel, Stephanie explained, was about a mystery novelist who disappeared; it was inspired by Agatha Christie’s real-life disappearance. The couple had come to congratulate their daughter and offer their support. Stephanie stated she was glad for the support as her eyes focused on someone in the distance. Steve turned and saw Jeremy.
After Stephanie went home to get ready, Julie came outside the bookstore and greeted Steve and Kayla. The trio made small talk about the book. While Julie was excited for Stephanie’s big unveiling, Steve and Kayla said Stephanie was only outing herself because of Jeremy. Julie was taken aback and wondered why Jeremy would have disclosed Stephanie’s secret.
At Stephanie's apartment building, Stephanie was caught off guard to see Jeremy lurking in the hallway and demanded to know why he was there. Before Jeremy could respond, Jada stepped out of her apartment and smiled at Jeremy. He returned the smile and introduced himself. Jada told a shell-shocked Stephanie that she had connected with Jeremy on a dating app.
Stephanie started to raise her objection but got a phone call. She could only watch as Jeremy and Jada walked off, arm-in-arm.
