Days of our Lives Recap, September 2, 2025: Chad and Cat confess their feelings for one another

What happened on Days of our Lives

At the mini golf course, Chad confessed that he had lied when he had said that Cat had not kissed him. Cat apologized profusely. “I’m telling you because it wasn’t how I imagined our first real kiss would be,” Chad said. Chad kissed Cat. “That was,” Chad said. Rachel ran back to tell Chad something, and she interrupted Chad and Cat kissing.

Chad stammered that Cat had been helping him with his swing. Rachel complained that Thomas kept bragging about how much better he was at golf, and she wanted to go home. “Okay then, we should probably get you kids home anyway,” Chad said. Rachel returned to the group. Worried, Cat asked Chad if he thought Rachel had seen them kiss. “If she did, she’d still be grilling us about it,” Chad said.

Aaron and Felicity went to get pizza, and Chad dropped off Thomas and Rachel at their homes. Chad escorted Cat back to her apartment. “We should have been more careful,” Cat said. With a nod, Cat asked Chad if he had thought the kiss was a mistake. Chad was silent, and Cat groaned.

”If I regret anything, it’s not admitting how I felt about you sooner,” Chad said. Cat was surprised. Chad explained that he had been confused about his feelings. “After I found out why you did what you did, that you were under this enormous pressure to save your mother from Clyde Weston, I was able to forgive you,” Chad admitted. Chad said that after they had become friends, he realized that he cared about Cat as more than a friend.

After a moment to collect her thoughts, Cat confessed that she had believed her feelings for Chad were because of her ruse. Cat said that after she had been exposed, her feelings had grown stronger instead of disappearing. “I realized that I was falling, me, Cat, was falling for you,” Cat stammered. Cat noted that her heart was hammering in her chest, and Chad placed her hand on his chest.

“Are we able to get past this and give it a real try?” Cat asked. Chad confessed he was struggling with how a relationship with Cat would make Abigail’s family feel. Cat said she understood why Abigail’s family could not accept her. “It’s not in the cards for you and me,” Cat said. Cat thanked Chad for their day together, and she opened the door for him to leave. Chad closed the door.

“After I lost my wife, I swore I would never fall for anyone else ever again, because I convinced myself that it would be a betrayal of some kind, that I would be cheating on her. And also, I just never thought that I would feel a strong connection with anyone else ever again,” Chad said. “Why are you telling me this?” Cat asked. Chad said he felt a strong connection to Cat. Chad told Cat that he needed to move forward cautiously because of his kids and family. “In this moment, I don’t really want to think about anything. I just kind of want to do this,” Chad said. Chad grabbed Cat and kissed her.

In the Brady pub, Javi thanked Steve for having convinced him to take in Tesoro rather than send him into foster care with someone else. “I’m glad it all worked out,” Steve said. Javi noted that since the 14 day reclaim period had ended, Tesoro would be up for adoption soon.

”I don’t think I’m ready to say goodbye,” Javi admitted. Steve pointed out that Javi loved Tesoro, and that Tesoro might be meant to be with Javi. “But there are so many families who want him,” Javi said. Steve noted that foster families were prioritized in adoption proceedings.

In Melinda’s office, Melinda told Sophia about Brady’s meeting with Patsy. “Patsy stuck to the story,” Melinda assured Sophia. Sophia told Melinda about her slip of the tongue at the pub. “What were you doing discussing the baby with Brady in the first place?” Melinda hissed. Sophia stressed that she had covered. Melinda promised to give Sophia adoption papers to show to Brady and Tate.

Sophia started to freak out about the lie unraveling. Melinda cautioned Sophia to breathe and calm down. “Tate’s going to find out what I did, and when he does, he’s going to hate me for it,” Sophia said. Melinda assured Sophia that Tate and Brady would not learn the truth as long as she and Sophia covered their tracks.

”I’m scared. And I don’t think I can do this anymore,” Sophia said. “You are not alone. I’m here, and I am not going anywhere,” Melinda stressed. Sophia thanked Melinda for her help. Melinda urged Sophia to show her gratitude by living the life that Sophia had wanted to live before she had become pregnant. “You stayed strong. And you made the right decision for your baby and for you. And I will never stop supporting that. And you must never stop believing you did the right thing,” Melinda said. With a sigh of relief, Sophia thanked Melinda for her words of encouragement.

”I have to admit, it’s been really nice to know where he is and that he’s with a loving family,” Sophia said. Melinda reminded Sophia how stressful it had been for her every time she ran into the baby in town. With a nod yes, Sophia agreed that adoption was still the best choice. There was a knock on the door, and Melinda was surprised to see Javi with Tesoro.

“Sophia?” Javi said. Sophia thanked Melinda for her advice, and she hurriedly left. Javi introduced himself, and he asked about hiring Melinda as an adoption attorney. Melinda admitted she had read about Javi and the baby in the news. “What are the chances that my partner and I could adopt Tesoro and raise him right here in Salem?” Javi asked. Melinda reminded Javi that Leo had a criminal history. Javi stressed that Leo had reformed.

“You keep saying your partner. Is that legally binding?” Melinda asked. “We haven’t made it official yet, but we are living together at my cousin’s house,” Javi said. Melinda told Javi that it was unlikely that the court would approve Leo as an adoptive parent, and she suggested that Javi adopt as a single parent.

When Melinda asked Javi if he could pass a background check, Javi said he was not sure. “I had a child who died,” Javi confessed. “I am so sorry. I lost a child too. My heart goes out to you,” Melinda said. Javi thanked Melinda. When Melinda told Javi that there would be a full investigation into the death of Javi’s first child. Javi thanked Melinda and left.

In the penthouse, Tate noted that the frame that Brady had given him contained a photo of his baby’s adoptive parents. “That is the photo that came with the frame,” Brady said. “I don’t get that. Why would Sophia give me a fake photo?” Tate said. Brady noted that this was further evidence that something was wrong with Sophia’s story. “I’m not sure your baby is a her,” Brady said. Brady told Tate about the suspicious moments with Sophia and Sarah. Tate was eager to learn the truth.

”Can you go to Sophia and get a copy [of the adoption papers] without raising her suspicions?” Brady asked. Tate promised to try. Brady urged Tate not to let Sophia know that they were suspicious.

Marlena slept in her bedroom, and she dreamed of being the Queen of the Night. Marlena mumbled in her sleep about not wanting to be separated from her family again. Marlena woke up with a start, and she said, “It was just a dream.” Marlena looked across the bed and screamed. Tate ran in. S’mores the snake slithered across the bed. Tate returned the snake to his enclosure, then he returned to check on his grandmother.

”I think [S’mores] needs a more secure home. I’ll talk to my dad,” Tate said. Tate asked if anything else was wrong. “Just a bad dream,” Marlena said. Tate asked about the dream, but Marlena claimed she did not remember it. After Tate left, Rachel came in. Marlena and Rachel talked about Rachel’s therapy, and how she planned to talk about her mom with the other kids at school. Marlena asked about mini golf.

“I did see something I wasn’t supposed to,” Rachel teased. Rachel said he had seen Chad kiss Cat. Marlena reminded Rachel that Rachel had seen something private, and she advised Rachel not to tell anyone. Rachel promised to keep the secret.

Brady met up with Steve at Black Patch, and Steve confirmed that the photo was from a stock image website. “Why would Sophia give my son a phony image of their child?” Brady asked. Brady worried aloud about the worst case scenarios for his grandchild. Steve admitted he had talked to Kayla, and she had hinted that Steve should continue to investigate. Confused, Brady wondered aloud why Sophia would want to hide the sex of the baby.

After a moment, Steve noted that he had run into Javi with the baby that had been dropped off at the firehouse. Brady said that Sophia had been panicked about finding adoptive parents for her baby so that her mother did not force her to keep it. “Is it possible she gave birth in Salem and not Chicago?” Steve said. Brady noted that Sophia had still been pregnant when the firehouse baby had been dropped off. Brady told Steve about the PO Box, and the email from the parents. “[Tate] deserves to know what happened to his child,” Brady said. “And he will,” Steve said.

Tate spotted Sophia walking through the square, and he called out to her. “I want a copy of our baby’s adoption papers,” Tate said. Sophia told Tate that she wanted to help him move on, and she promised to give him a copy of the papers the next day.
