What to expect on Days of our Lives

At the hospital, EJ showed Gwen the work being done on the new clinic. Gwen wasn't sure a gala was a good idea for the grand opening. "Do we really want to attract that sort of attention?" she wondered. "Are you worried that someone's going to stumble on the true purpose of our free clinic?" EJ mused with a smile.
EJ indicated that they were using the clinic's lab for something nefarious when he assured Gwen how high-tech the security was. EJ also pointed out that hosting a gala in honor of Tom Horton would generate so much goodwill that nobody would pay attention to what would be going on in the lab.
"Everyone will be so busy reminiscing about Tom's legacy, they won't realize how we're building ours," EJ declared. EJ handed Gwen an envelope of cash to give the electrician who was doing some shady electrical work on the building. Gwen reminded EJ that she was his silent partner and didn't want to get her hands dirty.
Belle arrived home and told Marlena she needed to talk to her about John's will. Belle questioned John's bequest to the hospital, but Marlena saw no problem with it and said she knew about it. Belle felt the change in ownership would be an issue. "How are we supposed to trust that man to be a steward of Dad's final wishes?" Belle asked.
Marlena said she felt confident with Belle being the executor of John's will. "You will do right by him," Marlena assured her daughter, prompting Belle to seek EJ out at the hospital.
Belle found EJ and explained that she wanted to talk about John's will, so they boarded the elevator just as it stopped with the lights going out. Down in the secret lab, Gwen was also shocked when the power went out. At Marlena's place, the lights also went out just as Marlena lost consciousness.
A beaming Sarah walked in on Xander playing with Victoria in his bedroom. They made some small talk while Victoria played with dolls until Xander asked what Sarah wanted to talk about.
Sarah mentioned the progress Xander was making with Marlena before suggesting they try couples therapy. Xander was against it, telling Sarah that they didn't need it. "I think we're doing fine by ourselves. We're speaking civilly again, and the biggest impediment is now out of the way. There's nothing else standing between us now," Xander pointed out.
"Except you," Sarah replied. She urged Xander to at least try couples therapy and accused Xander of being afraid. As they argued, they were surprised when the room suddenly went dark. When they realized the lights were out everywhere, Xander asked Sarah to stay over.
Sophia glared at Johnny when she saw him walking through Horton Town Square with a box containing a port-a-crib. "Hey, where are you going with that crib?" she snidely asked. Johnny reluctantly told her that he and Chanel were trying to adopt another baby.
Johnny apologized to Sophia for changing his mind at the last minute. Sophia feigned pragmatism. "No worries. I think it's best that my baby went to another family," she said. After Johnny walked away, Sophia glared angrily.
As an act of revenge, Sophia then typed an email to child services introducing herself as the firehouse baby's birth mother. She urged whoever was in charge not to give the baby to Johnny and Chanel. "They are totally unfit and undeserving," Sophia wrote.
Holly and Ari did what college freshmen do and enjoyed some rum and diet soda in their dorm room. Ari wanted Holly to join her at a party downstairs, but Holly was hard at work on her paper for film class. Ari apologized for not telling Holly about Sophia being in Tate's dorm room as soon as she knew.
Holly finally told Ari that she'd join her at the party when she finished her paper, but then Holly's paper suddenly disappeared from her laptop. Ari was sure that Johnny would cut Holly some slack if she told her that her hard drive had crashed. So, Holly did just that.
Back in the square, Sophia listened in as Johnny called Holly back and told her not to worry about her paper. That prompted Sophia to add to her email to child services that Johnny was involved in an inappropriate relationship in his film class.
Sophia then made her way to the dorm, where she met Ari in the hallway. Ari urged Sophia to give Holly some space before walking away. Sophia then waltzed right into Holly's room, where the two engaged in a snarky exchange.
"You boyfriend-stealing bitch," Holly accused, as Sophia noted that the room smelled like a distillery. Suddenly, Holly felt sick and ran to the bathroom. Sophia took the opportunity to pour even more booze into Holly's red solo cup. When Holly returned from the bathroom, Ari appeared. Both girls told Sophia to go.
Holly took a sip from her cup, thinking it was just soda. She again ran to the bathroom to be sick. Ari took Holly to the shower just as the lights went out. While Holly slept it off, Ari offered for Sophia to stay until the power returned. When Ari went to brush her teeth, Sophia arranged Holly's robe in a compromising way and took pics of her former BFF.
Cat answered her door in her workout clothes to find Chad standing there. Chad made some flirty comments before kissing Cat. She was sure that EJ sent Chad over to talk about the gala to give Chad and Cat alone time together. Chad also wanted to know how her dinner with EJ went, so Cat assured him that EJ was a perfect gentleman.
Cat was soon surprised to hear that Jennifer was writing for the Spectator again and would be doing a feature on Tom. Cat wondered if Jennifer would be writing the story from Boston, so Chad admitted that his mother-in-law was staying in town for a while. Cat wondered how they felt about Mark's parole. Chad didn't care and began kissing Cat again, just as they lost power.
