Xander and Philip discovered Gabi’s listening device. Xander told Philip that they needed to formalize their union as co-CEO’s. When the brothers discussed suspects, they questioned Gabi. Gabi feigned innocence. Panicked, Gabi talked to Tony about the Kiriakis brothers’ suspicions. Tony assured Gabi that their deal was still intact, and he warned her to be careful. Tony sent for Theo to make him a proposal.

Xander invited Philip to Victoria’s birthday party in part as amends and partly to provide a united front for the family. When Philip suggested that Xander should fight for Sarah, Xander said no. Xander explained that because Sarah had been the only person in the world that he had trusted, he could not forgive her betrayal. Philip told Gabi that she had inspired him to talk to Xander, and it had led to a kind of reconciliation.

Stephanie asked Steve if he had planted a listening device in Xander’s office. Steve said he would not have done something so stupid. Stephanie asked Steve to reveal the name of his client, but he refused. Alex demanded to know why Stephanie trusted her source on the Titan investigation, and she reluctantly told him it was Steve. Stephanie said Steve had refused to name his client.

EJ asked Gabi if she had heard from Stefan, but Gabi said no. EJ said only Vivian had heard from Stefan, and he was concerned. Gabi argued that EJ’s loss of Johnny had him desperate to reach out to other family members. Gabi dismissed EJ’s concerns.

Jack and Jennifer refused to forgive Abigail or Mark, and they urged Chad to write to the parole board. Chad told Cat that he would not oppose Mark’s release. Jennifer decided she and Jack needed to move back to Salem to keep Cat away from their family.

Gwen caught Cat in EJ’s office, and Cat pretended to be there to set up the room. Cat asked Gwen for advice about dealing with EJ. When Gwen returned home, she told EJ that Cat had found the blueprints for their project. EJ said the blueprints were a fake version and not their real plans.

EJ presented his plans for a free clinic to Chad, who told him he was proud of him. When EJ showed the blueprints for the free clinic to Stephanie, she told him that Kayla and the staff would be excited for the idea. EJ wanted to name the clinic after the DiMera family, but Stephanie argued that the staff would object. Stephanie recommended that EJ name the clinic after Tom Horton, and he agreed. Rafe reviewed Cat’s pictures of the blueprints, and he suspected EJ had an ulterior motive for the clinic. Kayla and Marlena were mistrustful of EJ’s plans for the free clinic, but they agreed to remain hopeful.

Marlena confided to Kayla that she was being overwhelmed by her grief. Before Marlena could tell Kayla about her Queen of the Night dreams, they were interrupted. Julie and Maggie kept one another company on the anniversaries of their husbands’ deaths.

Kristen received a six-year prison sentence. Brady told Rachel. Upset, Rachel skipped school to run away. Holly found her in the park. Rachel blamed herself for Kristen’s arrest because she had helped kidnap Ava. Holly returned Rachel to school, but she left again. Rachel took a rideshare to the prison to see Kristen. Kristen told Rachel that she was accepting responsibility for her actions and deserved to be in prison. Rachel manipulated Brady into agreeing to visitation with Kristen.

Shawn and Belle had a heart-to-heart. Shawn told Belle that Claire had cheated on Theo with her new guy. Belle wondered aloud if their indiscretions had set a poor example for their daughter. Shawn stressed that Claire was a good person and that they had been good parents.

Theo had an awkward run-in with JJ in the square. When JJ had dinner with Stephanie, he told her about it. Theo surprised Abe and Paulina at their apartment. Theo did not mention that Tony had sent for him, and he said he was home for a change of scenery. Theo told Abe that Claire had cheated on him, and he had sold his interest in the company to sever ties with her.

Chanel asked Johnny if he was open to starting a family. The couple decided to adopt baby Tesoro if they could. In need of enough money to raise a family, Johnny decided to keep his job at Titan while he taught the film class at Salem University.

Tate told Holly about the semi-open adoption. Tate realized that he still had questions for Sophia about the adoptive parents. Brady warned Tate that any information from Sophia could be untrue. When Tate mentioned Sophia’s behavior after the 4th of July, Brady was suspicious. Brady told Steve, and they agreed it was possible that the fire station baby could be Tate’s son. Steve asked Rafe to obtain a DNA sample. Rafe guessed why, and he agreed that it was possible that Tesoro was Tate’s son. Tate confronted Sophia about her lack of details, and he begged her to tell him the truth.

Javi told Leo that he had looked into adopting Tesoro, but the lawyer had said it would not be possible. Javi told Leo about how his daughter had died in a tragic accident. Leo assured Javi that it had not been Javi’s fault, but Javi still felt guilt over the loss. Javi admitted that he was scared to be a father again.
