The June 18, 2025, episode of Days of our Lives was a gift to soap fans from the ultimate soap fan, television and soap opera writer Jamey Giddens, and we couldn't thank him enough. It was a Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) extravaganza (with a little Tom and Alice mixed in) that did our hearts good.

A Days of our Lives love letter

Giddens, who wrote for DAYS for five years and now writes for Beyond the Gates, penned this very special episode that was near and dear to his Bope-loving heart.

"Bo and Hope Brady renew their timeless love today on @dayspeacock," Giddens wrote on Instagram. "I was honored to write the breakdown for this episode, especially since I've worshipped "Bope" since I was a 6-years-old, watching from my grandparents' Curtis Mathes floor model TV in DeKalb, Texas. It was quite the task to encapsulate 40 years of soap opera supercouple magic into one hour, but we tried."

As DAYS fans streamed the episode throughout the morning, they took to X (formerly Twitter) to ask Giddens questions about what went into the incredible 41 minutes (without commercials) they just saw. The incredible flashbacks that went as far back as the 1970s, when little Natasha Ryan played Hope, were of particular interest to fans. Giddens explained how they were chosen.

"It's a collab between the writers and production," Giddens wrote. "We suggest scenes, montages, etc. to FB to, but our writers' assistants then have to work with producers to see what's feasible."

He explained the process further in another tweet.

"We put suggested FB scenes in the outlines and scripts, but it all depends on what production can find. We always try to make sure FBs are parallel to the current day dialogue," Giddens said.

Bope fans go wild

In addition to asking questions, Days of our Lives and Bope fans couldn't stop praising the episode — and Giddens.

"Bo: So long Salem! Hope: Until next time. What a beautiful way to end the episode and this story arc," wrote super fan @marino_angie. "Thank you @Jamey_Giddens for this beautiful episode & paying homage to both Bo & Hope and Tom & Alice's history. You gave #Bope & #Days fans exactly what they wanted. Bravo!"

Giddens' quote was tweeted by another mega soap fan with the iconic gif of Bo and Hope riding down the highway on a stolen police motorcycle in 1984. "I just know @Jamey_Giddens waited his whole life to write today’s episode," @rodrigosworld81 wrote.

@rpics6 hit the nail right on the head when they tweeted: "#days delivered! One more proposal and one more wedding…I got exactly what I had been hoping for! Thank you, Mr. Giddens."

And delivered it did. From one mega Bope fan to another, thank you, DAYS and Jamey Giddens, for celebrating the love of a supercouple and forever hero and heroine in ways we could only imagine.
