Well, Days of our Lives' Sophia was finally bagged! It seemed like everyone ganged up on her when they cornered her in The Brady Pub. Everyone was throwing questions at her to the point where they wouldnβt even let her answer. And then Leo walked in with Tesoro, and that was it. Sophia lost it and ended up catatonic for the rest of the week. Itβs kind of sad to see her go through it, but Rachel Boyd has been doing a killer job lately.
Theo walked into Xanderβs office and did something I did not expect. He wanted to extend an olive branch by helping Xander and Philip untangle Titan and DiMera from each other, and then go their separate ways with no hard feelings. Xander couldnβt believe it. He could tell Theo was sincere, and while the newly minted CEO was being friendly, he made it clear that heβd be doing business competitively once the de-merger was complete.
Speaking of Xander, the big news this week was that he finally confessed to Sarah that he was the one who beat Philip to a bloody pulp. So, as expected, she kicked him out. Then she told Maggie that she was no longer in love with him! The poor guy went to his brother to tell him what happened, and the look on his face showed how truly sorry he was. At one point, right after she gave him the boot, he lifted a vase to smash it, but then caught himself and put it gently down. Heβs made some great strides, but it will be a while before Sarah finally forgives him and they reunite.
LOOSE ENDS

Brady and Amy Choi had a nice talk. It seemed like, if she werenβt so uptight, they might hook up. Wouldnβt that be scandalous? The wholesome, uber-religious Amy breaks her marriage vows and has an affair with Brady? There could potentially be something thereβ¦
Marlena realized that Belle told Sarah she passed out on the night of the blackout. Considering the blackout was seemingly caused by the construction of EJβs secret lab, and there have been rumblings that someone, somehow, might be bringing Stefano back to life, Marlena's passing out seems like more than a coincidence. Especially if you factor in the crazy dreams/memories sheβs having of the Queen of the Night, and Susan Banksβ warning that thereβs a darkness in Marlenaβs body, mind, and soul, and that Stefanoβs spirit was nearby. I think itβs all connected. Very clever, writers.
I just had a thought. Marlena was talking to Sarah and realized that Belle told her that Marlena had passed out the night of the blackout. Coincidence? I donβt think so. If the power draw had something to do with Stefano, then maybe that somehow affected her!
EJ was talking to Rita about Leo and stated, βThat little weaselβs becoming a problem, and we need to take care of him.β Uh oh! Are they going to try to kill Leo???
EXTRA SCOOPS
REFERENCES

Holly was going over schoolwork with Tate and said, βOkay, so we have the storming of the Bastille, Declaration of Rights, something else, et cetera, and there it is, the French Revolution.β The storming of the Bastille ignited a wave of rebellion, the Declaration of the Rights of Man defined its ideals, and from that spark arose the French Revolution.
Holly and Tate later bumped into Leo and Javi, who were walking Tesoro, and asked them if they wanted to go to breakfast. Leo responded, βThank you, but this little guyβs ceaseless kvetching had us up at an ungodly hour. So we have already eaten.β Kvetching is a Yiddish-derived term that means complaining or grumbling, often in a persistent or nagging way β usually about something minor or habitual.
Marlena was talking to Belle and suggested they play hooky for the day. She asked, βWhy donβt we enjoy a Jason Bourne movie together, hmmm?β Belle responded, βOkay, another international man of mystery with the initials JB?β I liked the reference to John. Jason Bourne is a highly trained, amnesiac assassin created by the CIA who goes on the run to uncover his true identity, serving as the central character in both The Bourne Identity novel series by Robert Ludlum and the blockbuster film franchise starring Matt Damon.
When Belle accused Brady of drinking her milkshakes when they were kids, he denied it. She said, βOkay, Daniel Plainview.β Daniel Plainview is the ruthless, ambitious oil prospector at the center of the film There Will Be Blood, portrayed by Daniel Day-Lewis. Heβs not a real person but a fictional character β a cold, calculating businessman whose rise to power during the early oil boom exposes the corrupting force of greed and ambition.
SHOT OF THE WEEK

There was a shot of Gabi and Philip dancing between the sheets, and at first I thought someone was spying on them. However, it turned out to be a creative one, although I couldnβt quite figure out what the camera was peering through. It looked like a mail slot, but then everyone could spy on them. No, I think it was just a creative shot, so points go to the director and camera guys.
LINE(S) OF THE WEEK

After Tate and Holly explained everything Sophia had done, and that Tesoro was her baby, Leo remarked, βMy God. The deception, the skullduggery, the lengths that woman went to keep Johnny and Chanel from adopting Tesoro. No wonder she ran away. Iβd skip town, too, if all my lies were being exposed left and right, not that Iβve told any lies, at least not recently, but I do understand the impulse.β
Leo was later grumbling to Javi about how an avocado is a fruit, not a vegetable, when EJ happened to walk by. Leo jumps up and says, βWell, well, well, look who it is, Jack of all trades, CEO, district attorney. Whatβs next for you? Beekeeper? Maybe a podcast host? No, thereβs something about the timber of your vocal quality that might be too imposing. You know, you have this nasally and deeply unsexeβ¦β Then EJ cuts him off and asks about Tesoro.
Javi told Leo about what happened to Sophia in the pub, and they talked about how, thankfully, Tesoroβs too young to know about all the craziness going on. Leo hilariously responded, βYou know, I envy him. I have been in many a turmoil where I would have benefited from my cognitive abilities not yet being fully developed.β
Abe and Paulina were talking about Theo becoming the CEO of DiMera Enterprises. When Paulina asked if that was a good thing, Abe replied, βThereβs nothing good about being a DiMera.β
Leo again bumped into EJ midweek at the Pub. He stated, βYet another serendipitous run-in. Itβs almost as if the universe is sayingβ¦Actually, I donβt know what the universe is saying. I feel like Iβve had something of a one-sided relationship with the universe. Iβm constantly trying to figure out what it wants from me. Itβs never really clear.β
The intrepid reporter then tried to get EJ to give him a tour of the new free clinic. When EJ refused, Leo said, βThatβs fine. βNoβ actually works for me. Rejection is my mental cardio.β
Amy bumped into Leo and Javi and asked to hold Tesoro. They spoke about how sweet the baby is and Leo adds, βUnless he needs a diaper change, and then he screams like cousin Gabi does when I use the last of her leave-in conditioner.β The baby made Amy smile, which is no small feat because the woman has a scowl that could make a cactus apologize.
REACTION OF THE WEEK

It was a tie this week! When Stephanie revealed to Julie that she was Anastasia Sands, Julieβs jaw hit the floor, and probably for the first time ever, she was speechless.
After Paulina went on and on about a blowhard at the town meeting, Abe told her to hear the guy out. When she asked why, he replied, βWell, you are so fond of giving unsolicited advice, I thought Iβd return the favor.β The look on her face at that was priceless.
RANDOM THOUGHTS

You would think by now that everyone in Salem knows the Brady Pubβs menu by heart. But they must have changed it recently because everyone who went there had to read the menus before ordering. Just saying.
PARTING THOUGHTS

As much as Iβm irritated that the secret of Xander beating Philip finally got out, itβs probably for the best. At the very least, Sarah dumping Xander, coupled with his attempt to control his anger, will push the brothers closer together. Philip seemed to feel that Sarah would eventually come aroundβ¦again. But Xander was doubtful, so maybe Phil will put in a good word with her about how well Xanderβs doing and how heβs really changed.
