Days of our Lives Spoilers, June 10: Tears flow and hearts brak as John Black is laid to rest

Friends and family gather in the church courtyard to say their final farewell to a hero and a legend. John Black (the late Drake Hogestyn) has been a part of the Salem fabric since 1986. He loved Marlena (Deidre Hall) fiercely, raised a family with her, and rescued anyone who needed it along the way.

His last rescue was a success as he got the Versavix for Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), but he was burned in the process and eventually succumbed to his injuries last week. Loved ones have descended on Salem to bid John farewell, including Shane Donovan (Charles Shaughnessy), Carrie Brady (Christie Clark), Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan), and Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).

Former priest Eric leads the service, which includes tear-filled eulogies from Belle (Martha Madison), Paul, Steve (Stephen Nichols), Abe (James Reynolds), Roman (Josh Taylor), and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). They have all loved John through the years, either as a father, a brother, or a best friend. Steve can't even manage to keep Black Patch open because it is too emotional for him.

After learning that John had passed, Hope (Kristian Alfonso), Shawn (Brandon Beemer), and Ciara (Victoria Konefal) decided not to tell Bo (Peter Reckell) what happened. They didn't want to interfere with his recovery, considering all that Bo's body has gone through over the last 10 years. Telling Bo the truth could have led to a setback.

As Bo and Hope spend time reconnecting, Hope appears to finally confess what she has been hiding from Bo. He insists he has to go to the memorial and pay his respects despite his doctor's advice.

Hope knows she can never stop her stubborn hero from doing anything. If Bo wants to return to Salem for John's funeral, that is what will happen. Salemites are thrilled to see Bo Brady among them on this bittersweet day, as it's something they never thought would happen. For eight years, they lived without Bo and assumed they would never see him again.

Marlena is especially grateful to see Bo, as she knows her beloved husband didn't die in vain. It's a day Salem will remember forever as John Black is laid to rest.
