Days of our Lives Spoilers, May 8: Sarah's life takes a turn

Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) is thrilled that she managed to get the weekend off and that she managed to get Xander (Paul Telfer) to agree to go away for a few days. It's not the tropical honeymoon she still expects, but at least it's a relaxing time with her husband and daughter.

Xander and Sarah stop by Horton Town Square for some baked treats from Sweet Bits before they plan to take off with Victoria for the weekend. However, Sarah's food does not taste quite right. In fact, it causes her to start to choke and gag, alarming Xander, who calls for help.

Is there something truly wrong with Sarah or is someone sabotaging Chanel's (Raven Bowens) bakery again? Bad baked goods have been causing problems in Salem for two years now, so this is starting to feel like a theme, and not a coincidental one.

Can Xander get Sarah to the hospital before it's too late? Will there even be a hospital soon?

Is Kayla's decision the right one?

Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) was stunned when EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) offered to save the hospital from certain ruin. He doesn't just want to donate money. He's ready to fund the entire medical center, but Kayla turns EJ down.

However, EJ is not about to give up and may have another offer on the table that Kayla can't refuse. Does he let Kayla know that he has been in contact with Dr. Russell (Michael Dietz) and is ready to help fast-track the new drug that can cure sepsis? That might make all the difference for Kayla, as she is desperate to save Bo (Peter Reckell).

Shawn (Brandon Beemer) and Steve (Stephen Nichols) may be ready to forge ahead with their plan to steal the drug, but Kayla might have something else in mind if EJ can make it happen. Of course, EJ is not only in this for altruistic reasons. He is convinced he can save millions of lives while making himself infinitely richer in the process. Will his plan work?
