Days of our Lives Spoilers, September 4: Does Philip play the ultimate trick on Xander?

After his session with Marlena (Deidre Hall), Xander (Paul Telfer) is determined to do his best to control his anger, especially around Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier). He wants to be a better person for Victoria, but knows that there is a rage deep within him that he has to take care of.

When Philip and Xander are back at work, Philip decides he is going to put his brother to the test. Xander is alarmed when Philip seems to be choking on food and does the Heimlich maneuver to try to save his brother. Does Philip fake the incident to see how loyal Xander is and if he can trust him?

Saving Philip will also do a lot for Xander's self-esteem since he revealed that he worries he can't be the best dad for Victoria. What neither Xander nor Philip knows is that they have much more trouble than a brotherly rivalry.

Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) is playing them both and can't wait to tell Tony (Thaao Penghlis) what he has learned. She now knows that Victor's letter was a forgery and Philip is not entitled to half of Titan.

A new start for Johnny and Chanel?

The trial might be over, but that doesn't mean that all is forgiven when it comes to EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) and Johnny (Carson Boatman). In fact, it's quite the contrary. Johnny cannot get over the things his father did during the trial to get him acquitted, especially the way he went after Belle (Martha Madison) and Chanel (Reven Bowens). Johnny is very protective of his wife and is sick thinking about how EJ tried to pin the crime on her using AI.

As for Chanel, she is ready for her and Johnny to move on with their lives and their plan to become parents. Chanel still wants to adopt, but she has to get Johnny on board with the idea. Will they end up trying to adopt little Tesoro since Javi (Al Calderon) might have trouble making the baby legally his? That would certainly bring his tale full circle, as he was the baby they originally planned to make their own.
