Days of our Lives star Martha Madison and husband AJ celebrate an amazing milestone

Days of our Lives supercouples aren't restricted to what we see on-screen. Actress Martha Madison, who plays Belle, is celebrating a significant marital milestone with her real-life husband, AJ Gilbert.

Forever and last year

Madison and Gilbert were wed 18 years ago. Last year, she shared a post, shown above, with a photo from her wedding day with the caption "17 down. Forever to go." The Days of our Lives star touched upon her marriage in a recent post about her birthday, which she celebrated last month. In it, she noted the importance of marrying the right person, which, of course, Madison feels she has done.

"The purpose of life is to give and receive love -- and the hardest people to love are the ones who need it the most," Madison posted. The actress also added that time like fairness is an illusion and a pipe dream, and consciousness is eternal.

"Success requires discomfort," the Daytime Emmy-nominated actress continued. The performer noted that this wasn't something that could be negotiated. She offered that people who have grit get more out of life than those who merely seek comfort.

She added that family doesn't necessarily always mean blood ties. Madison noted that she wed the right man and thinks that their daughter, Charley, is smarter than they are.

You've got to have friends

In an Instagram post, Madison raves about the amazing father that her husband is. "Charley hit the jackpot in the Dad department!" the actress enthused. Madison noted that in many ways, AJ is the "Mom" of their family in that he's cook, chauffeur, teacher, accountability coach, and companion. She adds that AJ is always by Charley's side, he celebrates her wins, corrects her mistakes, and reassures her when needed. He catches her when she falls. Madison noted that he does that for her, too.

Lilly Melger (ex-Lily, General Hospital), Madison's bestie, commented on her pal's special day. "Forever young. Eternally wise. Endlessly fun," Melgar wrote to her Days of our Lives pal. "Happy Birthday to a true soul mate who’s contributed so much to my life experience, my evolution as a human, and the culprit of many laugh lines!!! I love you .. deeply .. truly.. madly. Always."
