After news of Alexander's passing broke on Friday, multiple stars paid tribute to the actress, including Seaforth Hayes, who took to Instagram with kind words for her friend.

"Denise Alexander was a friend to treasure and an actress to applaud. She was well established on DAYS when I joined the cast as Julie #4 (a replacement for 3 previous actresses)," Seaforth Hayes wrote. "She watched Billy and I fall madly in love and, being a romantic lady herself, cheered us on."

"Such happy memories of her years in Salem and her great success on General Hospital," the actress continued. "We both began as child actors, both had strong mothers and both were raised as Christian Scientists in our early years. I was grateful for her wisdom, taste, humor, and goodness every time I saw her. It was never enough. And my love for her will never be over."

Alexander's Susan started out as Julie's best friend on Days of our Lives, but the pair later became rivals when they fought over the same man, David. He eventually married Susan when she became pregnant, but he longed for Julie. Susan later killed David when she held him responsible for the death of their son. Susan was also the catalyst for Doug (Bill Hayes) and Julie's romance when she paid Doug to romance Julie.

After her successful DAYS run, Alexander was wooed away from Salem to move to Port Charles and join the cast of General Hospital in 1973. She remained with GH as Dr. Lesley Webber for 11 years. Lesley was presumed dead in 1984, but Alexander found soap life again when she moved to New York to take on the role of Mary McKinnon on NBC's Another World.

In 1996, Lesley was found to be alive and reunited with her beloved daughter, Laura (Genie Francis). Alexander played Lesley off and on since the 1990s, with her last GH appearance taking place in 2021.
