It was only a few short weeks ago when Days of our Lives icon Suzanne Rogers revealed she had been given a cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Now, she has a positive update about her condition.
Days of our Lives star's health update

The 82-year-old Rogers was diagnosed with stage 2 colorectal cancer in the spring of this year, and took some time off from work beginning on June 13. After feeling that something was off, Rogers underwent a variety of tests, including an MRI, PET scan, and biopsy. She was told she had cancer and needed to receive treatment right away, so Rogers followed doctors' orders and did just that.
"It was radiation every day and chemo every day for six weeks, and it was tough," she told TV Insider in October. "It was tough knowing you had to do it five days a week and then you had off Saturday and Sunday. I thoroughly enjoyed my weekends because I didn’t have to go to and see a doctor. I was so tired of seeing doctors."
At the Days of our Lives 60th anniversary celebration on November 8, Rogers offered PEOPLE an update on her condition.
"I'm feeling so much better," she said. "I mean, my summer was rough. I had cancer removed and radiation, that was tough. But I didn't lose my hair. I guess I got it early...I was stage two, and it was a certain kind of chemo that they gave me, it was pills and the radiation, and it didn’t affect it, so that was good." The actress also added that she was now in remission.
Suzanne Rogers is back at work
Rogers is feeling so well that she was able to return to work recently. Thankfully, DAYS' light summer taping schedule means that Maggie won't be missed on-screen for very long.
"I was able to keep it under wraps, and then the show took that break, so it wasn’t necessary to get into it all then," Rogers said. "It helped me because it gave me even more time to chill and to get myself healthy."
Rogers has been bringing Maggie Horton Kiriakis to life in Salem for more than half a century, with the character still going strong as she tries to keep Victor Kiriakis' legacy intact.
