Days of Our Lives alum Blake Berris reveals Emmy reel snafu

It’s been a while since Connie (Julie Dove) killed Everett/Bobby (Blake Berris) on Days of Our Lives. She wanted to keep him quiet about what he knew as well as frame him for Li Shin’s (Remington Hoffman) murder. But Berris did a great job, and as such, he submitted video clips for consideration by the Daytime Emmy Awards. However, there was an issue, and he opened up about it on social media.

He revealed a major mistake

“There are ugly things from Everett’s past that the three of you cannot even begin to imagine. Things that he does not need to face again,” was what Bobby Stein told Jada (Elia Cantu), Stephanie (Abigail Klein), and Marlena (Deidre Hall) in the Emmy consideration clip that Berris posted on Instagram. In the story, Everett Lynch suffered abuse as a child, so his psyche created an alternate personality called Bobby to protect his mind. The video contained several scenes of Everett/Bobby, right up until his death.

Berris captioned the video, “Some of you may not know this, but actors submit our own reels for Emmy consideration. We sift through a year’s work and try to shape something that captures the heart of a story.” He explained, “For my final year on #DAYS, I took a ‘less is more’ approach — a short reel I felt honored the story the writers and directors crafted so beautifully. Unfortunately, due to a mistake (which DAYS has apologized for - I get it - we’re all human) a 12-minute rough assembly was submitted instead.”

He expressed his dismay by further explaining, “I’m disappointed, not because I thought I’d win, but because I feel I let down the team who gave me such powerful material. That said, I’m proud of the work — and endlessly grateful to the daytime community. To the fans and my peers, here’s the reel I intended to submit. And sorry to all the judges who had to watch 12M of my blubbering face!”

Fans want him to return

Co-star Klein praised Berris with the comment, “You’re exceptional, BB. Truly moving work. As the self-appointed President of your fan club, I only want more of you on our screens. 24/7 wouldn’t be enough.” Berris replied to his former castmate with, “@abigailklein_ miss YOU! #StEverett 4EVA!”

While Days of Our Lives’ Cantu commented with several applause emojis, The Young and the Restless’ Eileen Davidson jumped in to remark, “Such great work, Blake! Wow!”

Berris’ followers praised his acting across the board, with many clamoring for him to return to Days of Our Lives. This sentiment was evinced by @niquie33, who shared the collective thought, “You’re such an amazing actor! I miss you on DAYS!”
