Deidre Hall reveals the hardest day ever on Days of Our Lives

Things have not only been tough for Days of Our Lives fans, but also difficult for the cast and crew. After the death of beloved actor Drake Hogestyn, the show, with Hogestyn and his family’s approval, wrote John’s death into the show, which saw over a week of gut-wrenching, tear-jerking stories. Characters came from all over to see John in his final moments and give him a major farewell. Now, Deidre Hall, who plays the love of John’s life, Marlena, shared her feelings on social media.

The love was palpable

On Instagram, Hall shared a simple image that stated, “I know. I know. Hardest day ever.” Co-star Eric Martsolf, who plays John’s son Brady, kept his response extremely simple, sharing, “❤️.” @mgpocketdiva praised Hall’s acting in the scenes where John ultimately passes away, commenting, “You always deliver, but today you were transcendent. Thank you for feeling, and thank you for sharing. And thank you for the most beautiful acting partnership with Drake. We will study you two as one of the great leading lady/leading man duos of all time ❤️.”

The fans were very verbose in their comments, showing that Hogestyn was beloved by everyone, and the pairing of John and Marlena put the ‘super’ in supercouple. @agirlnamedamandakate reacted with the lengthy passage: “Ahhhh we know!!! We knowww!! What painful and raw scenes these must have been to film, knowing that Drake had already passed! Deidre, you were phenomenal today, and held it together with such grace and strength…It's literally an end of an era for the show and for the fans! Thank you, Deidre and Drake, for the most amazing memories! We will love you guys forever! Broken 💔💔💔.”

Fans had a lot to say

Days of Our Lives fans agreed that everyone was in tears watching John exit this mortal coil. @gmariexo3 shared the loving response, “So heartbreaking. Those tears were real. It wasn’t acting. 🥺 Sending love. You were absolutely amazing, today, Deidre,” while @cyny76 admitted, “I bawled my eyes out during that last scene. You were incredible today, Deidre. I can see in your eyes and even in Mary Beth Evans' [Kayla] and Stephen Nichols' [Steve] eyes that you guys were truly heartbroken over Drake’s passing. We are all with you and feel your pain.” The fan went on to thank the actors, stating that Hogestyn would always be missed.

And among the many well-wishers was Days of Our Lives fan, @bev.hess, who shared their pain in watching the episodes with, “It’s been excruciating watching the beautiful way you all are paying respect to #DrakeHogestyn! And showing all the lovely scenes from his life on DAYS! My heart aches for all those who loved him…thank you for sharing those memories and the love that you all shared with an amazing coworker and friend!”
